Re: Christian Community
Hehe, it would be excellent if God looked like that
one thing, reading through here, that did strike me, was joe4444 saying that non-believers' beliefs are 'shameful'.
As a Christian, I would personally not make this sort of comment. In my life I have met both Christians whose conduct towards others disappointed me and made me almost ashamed to share their faith, and atheists who have really inspired me and were truly great people. Carrying the title of 'believer' or 'non-believer' does not automatically sort you into 'good, moral person' or 'bad, evil person'. Nobody has the right to denounce anyone else' faith (or non-faith), or to thrust their own faith upon them. The average atheist is just as intelligent as the average religious follower, and so equally capable of making their own judgment of how they wish to live their life. I respect atheists and want to hear their views, and I hope for the same treatment.
A harmonious respect for everyone's beliefs begets respect and moral, considerate behaviour, not forcing a religion's morals upon atheists.
