Topic: i had an interesting idea....not sure anything like it has been done
i wonder how hard it would be to allow faster building by paying more....
i know everyone reading this (prolly just me) is thinking we have that it is called a con bonus....but my idea was a lil different.
i wonder if it would be possible to make a mechanic that would allow the building of units faster for an increased price....ie: an option to build twice as fast...but at twice the price....could stiull take into account con bonus by lowering base build time as is currently the case.
I only mention this as i think adding a mechanic of this nature, would add to the tactical nature of this game....
what i envision being possible with an option like this....
I am at war....i break my fleet due to my stupidity (i know...no one ever does this) and loses lets say all 3 million of thier droids....my fam being such the infra whores they are have stockpiled a massive savings (yes i know never happens either) I could pay standard amount and get troops in standard amount of time...waiting a tick or three....meanwhile i have no ground....or i could choose to pay an exhorbitant amount to build it faster.
I think an option like this would add some more depth to the game...also it is how things work in real life....i can see how strategically an option like this could have a multitude of uses all of which would be fun and prove to make things very interesting.
I dont even know if a change this size is possible....but if so...setting it on a sliding scale for cost to speed would keep it from being over used or causing current mechanics to become useless. con would still be a useful thing possibly more so as it would lower the cost of the speed signifigantly by lowering the "normal" bbuild time for the player.
this could be used to allow a certain amount of surprise in attacks and defence previously unattainable...but at a cost...and that cost is what will make it usable but not overpowered or over used.
