Stargate is the best show around in my opinion.

Universe went the wrong way.

The stargate franchise should be centered around Earth or close to earth like Atlantis.

If they make another stargate series, they should make it from a fully organised offworld base in the milkyway, with a new command structure and new teams. The plot would be loosely based on killing off the remants of any goauld, Ori, Wraith or replicators that may be in the galaxy. Have plenty of action, and add the drama through the show. Have more advancements in technology and stuff like that. Add more space battles because earth was well on its way to making a fleet. Just more action and alot more peril. Have the big baddie as the lucian alliance. A good recipe in my opinion. Maybe even have an alien species attacking the edge of the galaxy 'Tyranid style' for those that play 40k. Give em some advanced weapons, and superior numbers, but not so much that it would seem like they conveniently were created.

The galaxy is VERY big so much could happen. There could be entire sections of the galaxy that could be empires or barren wastes, the possibilties are endless.

I only watched the episode once but im pretty sure Rush says something like "thats not good" when looking over the data after he unfreezes the one guy. There's probably some malfunction with the technology (either from time or just from the way they were made) that causes something bad happen to humans who are frozen in there.

If they did work right they could turn it around, but the ships been flying for over 10million years (i think that was the time frame, pre-atlantis leaving earth) so it would take an equally long time to get back. The shape of the ship is terrible as is, let alone for another 10million year journey... That and i can only assume the stasis pods on Atlantis were probably the most advanced ever made by the Ancients and they only preserved life for 10,000 years (see Weir's episode in season one) and at the 10,000 year mark she was basically dead.

I'd assume they would freeze people in the pods if food/water was running out or the people were suffering from injury of disease they couldn't cure.

They could technically upload the people's minds to the ships computer and then move the bodies into the pods to preserve them. That'd be a pretty sick idea really.

No no no, as in "that's not good" and "that's that", he was speaking in a way of sarcasm, because he didn't want them messing around with the cryo-pods in the first place.  And of course they didn't listen, so Rush activated the pods to teach them a good hard earned lesson.  There's nothing wrong with the pods.

Cause at the end he said, he "received some valuable data".  Which means the cryo-pods are working.

No, he didn't want them messing around with the cryo-pods.  So he happens to be in the control room, "monitoring" them as they mess around the cryo-pod chamber, against his orders?  And then the chamber happens to activate with Brodey inside, while Rush is in the control panel watching them mess around?  Maybe he was hoping that the kid genius would go to Rush and tell him that he screwed up, but he didn't.  Instead the kid went to get Chloe.  Anyways, after a certain amount of time, near the end of the episode.  Rush is back in the control room, and then the pod opens up, letting Brodey back out, both the kid and Chloe are like, "what did you push?", and their both no clue.

And of course Rush pretty much tells the one guy on the bridge, "well that's that."  So one, Rush teaches them to NOT screw around against his orders, without them the wiser, and two Rush gets valuable "Data" on the pods.

THat's a no brainer guys.

I love my sci-fi so atleast this is coming from a fan of the genre. This show sucks more balls than bsg like seriously. Rush is just another balthazar. Some Lame psychologically weak willed individual put into a stressful situation that somehow things seem to work out. Like oh no we are going to fly into a sun and die omg. No, no, it's a good thing actually it recharges the shields. Or the ships going to burn out and die and they find a copy of the ship and raid it for parts. Why is shit always so convenient in Hollywood. What's wrong with killing off the main cast. It's lame to kill off characters introduced in the same episode. Like star trek and the red shirts. Done before give me something new. Not simply new effects.

it sure was, I've started watching Babylon 5 which somewhat captures a tone similar to Space Above and Beyond but the latter is one of the bestest shows ever ever...

SGU had a number of great episodes. Their main problem is that they drove everyone except their core audience away with the way they handled the series. 1) pissing off SGA fans by abruptly ending that series for no real reason; 2) pissing off Stargate fans by hardly using the stargate that much any more and generally scaling back on the things that made Stargate into Stargate; 3) confusing casual viewers with the very serialized format (although imo they did a good job of adressing this through their pre-episode summary of previous relevant scenes); 4) boring the average sci fi viewer to death in certain scenes and episodes.

Plus although it certainly wasn't plagiarism or anything, there were many similarities to other "lost and alone in space" sci fi material to really create a unique buzz about the show.
