Topic: Obama takes a dive

If you are braindead you missed Friday's epic showdown between Democrats and Republicans.

Considered the Fort Sumter of the coming fights this is quite a retreat by the Obama Administration and by Obama himself.

He forced the Dem's in the Senate to accept a up/down vote on Healthcare and several other issues.

This is so HUGE as to be impossible for Liberals to understand, so let me explain.

1) The Dems will now be on record with a follow up vote on an issue where they DID NOT TAKE ANY REPUBLICAN INPUT the first time.

2) They will be voting on a bill the public has had time to see, and to hate even more.

3) They will be voting on a bill that States, Cities, Unions, Corporations, and Companies have sought (and obtained) Waivers against because it does to much damage to them.

4) They will be voting within a time frame that will make their votes remembered in election season, for a second election for House members.

The other side issues that present themselves are good cannon fodder for Republicans to be MOTIVATED.

This was a Win/Win for Republicans and a Lose/Lose for Obama

Further this undermines Obama's own base

1) Do as I say, not as I do

2) What promises has he kept?

3) Starting a war with no time table, no objectives, no leadership (When he swore he would never EVER start a war, hmmm?)

4) How much of that trillions has reached your pockets?

Democrats are fed up with him, he has not helped any of them, and they feel it.

But where have Liberals helped when they have had control for decades? Chicago? Hope you like wearing bullet proof armor. Detroit? Where people can buy property for under $500?

In fact the premier issue of our day, Unions, is going against Unions in California and New York (As well as Wisconsin, but they are not getting headlines because that would hurt their Democrat leaders in NY and Cali.)

Then the worst blow for Democrats in 100 years.. The last election where Republicans everywhere will be making districts that make sense instead of the current Gerrymandered districts. Democrats stand to lose dozens of seats to this in the coming election. Add to that, they are the ones who have the most Senate seats up for election in 2012. The most to lose by far, and the looks are that many are just announcing retirements with the knowledge the game is over.

Liberals, and especially Obama, have nose dived faster, stronger, and better than Carter ever did. Now I hope to see Bauchman, Palin, Palenty, or some other strong Conservative be our modern day Reagan in 2012

Everything bad in the economy is now Obama's fault. Every job lost, all the debt, all the lost retirement funds. All Obama. Are you happy now? We all get to blame Obama!

Re: Obama takes a dive

Glad you're able to post einstein

however I'm sorry you suffered brain damage you think this was a good deal? tongue

THIS WAS TOTAL [udder] CATASTROPHE!!

The House can defund anything without permission from the President and the Senate.  100 Senators and the President can't make them fund anything.  They already voted for $61 billion in cuts, $0 to Planned Parenthood and they should have crippled Obamacare too.  But they had that vote.

Senate swept it under the rug.  Reid refused to let it come up for a vote.  Didn't vote it down; didn't vote it up.

Obama threatened a veto but since the Senate hadn't passed anything nothing got to his desk.

Let's be clear about that, the House voted to fund the govt.   This funding threatened special interests of the Democrat party.  So the Democrats acted like a guy who got a paycheck, but won't deposit it, because he wants a raise too.  THEY SAT ON THE MONEY.

So then Obama and Reid call on Boehner to dicker.  Now you had 242 Republicans who said "suck off, go to hell with your crazy spending" and Obama and Reid reduced that 242 to 1 guy, Boehner, who wanted a deal.

So he caves. We do not get the $100 billion he promised.  We don't get the "pro-rated" $61 billion the House voted for.  The Speaker treats the House vote like it was a Facebook poll.  It never happened, it doesn't matter.  We get $39 billion in cuts, and vouchers to DC schoolkids, and Reid promises to hold votes.

But what do Democrats get?

1.  They sunder the GOP.  242 Republicans can vote for something, but if Reid shoves it where the sun don't shine, Obama can call on John Boehner and make those 242 Republican votes disappear.   This tactic can be repeated on EVERY SINGLE VOTE, so long as Obama and Reid TALK about GOP priorities while violating them.
2.  They got the GOP to lie to its voters, and now insult them for not celebrating .
3.  They got Republicans to vote for federal $$$ to Planned Parenthood.  And that's gonna leavea  mark.
4.  They got Republicans to vote for Obamacare funding.  Ouch.
5.  Reid promises votes.  Supposing Reid doesnt hold them? Or schedules them and somebody else (SPECTRE No. 2 Chuck Schumer, eg) filibusters?  Then what?  What benefit is that? That Reid & Schumer hate the Tea Party and are its enemies? They already say so
6.  they go into the 2011 budget battle with the Left screaming at the GOP, the Right screaming at the GOP, and the undecideds becoming aware the GOP is hated by all
7.  GOP is already saying they can't do better and 2012 will decide whether anything gets done.  Way to waste 2 years.
8.  They pissed me off and that's so importatnt.  In fact go back and make that #1

And all for 3% of discretionary spending, which Obama can get back if he shoves hard enough.  In fact the guy is already talking about TAX HIKES.  With a GOP Congress he's talking about Tax hikes.  A Democrat who gets his ass kicked on Friday doesnt' come back on Wednesday with tax hikes.  He must think he won.  And so why not mention tax hikes, and make Boehner "buy" them back with more concessions?

And you aren't part of it einstein, but I am goddam tired of the Center-Dumb republicans beating up people who don't see how wonderful it is for the GOP to be so "smart" and defy the "fringe right".  Now the independents will see how nice hte GOP is!  OF COURSE the GOP wasn't going to do what it said it would! OF COURSE nothing can be done until certain bigots get behind the GOP and give it House, Senate, White House at the same time--although even then, mustnt be too radical!! -- buncha dumbasses.  I think I'm gonna register communist and nag them about private property, probably a lot of honest commies....

I think they're heading us into Weimar, and automatic default, and repudiation of the US govt.

its the politicians. We need to make them wear patches on their suits like NASCAR drivers do. This way we know who they really work for.

lol, I vote anyone in who passes that law. In Europe, despite popular believe its even worse. They would go down beneath a mass of patches.

But on topic, lets hope so einstein, cause right now its still a complete disaster. Edit for palin though. She's equally stupid as obama, maybe even worse. Naming here in the same sentence as reagan is an insult, as I consider that man one of the better presidents of the US. Next to that, if she wins, chances are the dems will stay in power despite obama's failures.

Re: Obama takes a dive

Well the democrats wanted to cut a twig.

The republicans wanted to cut the branch.

The Tea Party just wants to cut down the whole tree.

The tree = Spending.

The republicans wanted to cut funding to Sesame Street...

CAN YOU IMAGINE A WORLD WITHOUT SESAME STREET!?!

Think of Elmo!

Seroiusly though, we don't need to cut funding for every damn thing.  We just need to cut funding for those items on the books that are duplicated.  I mean did we really need 15 seperate departments that were being funded to save one type of salmon on the west coast?  15 seperate departments were being funneled cash for doing the same job.  When we only needed...1 department.   The government, CONGRESS, that is, funded 23 seperate offices on military procurement.  And only 5 of those offices actually belonged to the military.  The other 18 were all civilian, and government funded.  Still there were what?....3 departments for public broadcasting television....and the republicans wanted to cut....all 3.

Hmmmm....I truelly do not believe that the republicans have our best interests at heart, considering they also wanted to yank the teeth out from the EPA, which not only help regulate the garbage spewed into our air, but our water also.   They keep shouting out that it costs the taxpayers money...well, I don't see how since their making a $100 billion in cuts?  And i'm getting more money back this year, and paying less state taxes than in any point since I first got a job when i was 15 years old.  I'm 39 now.  I did my taxes at the last minute, just because of the spending cuts.  Glad I did.

Still I think it falls to our worldly problems on the Real Estate Market, The Banks, those who borrowed money that they couldn't pay back, and Wall Street.  To much money went to the wrong hands, and it bit every americans ass in the process.

If your all going to fork over money to someone, you gotta ask yourself, what are they going to do with your money?

Re: Obama takes a dive

Obama and the Democratic party are bad. They invest in projects yielding no return on investment, and spend like an impulsive teenager with a high-limit credit card. But what is the alternative? Tea baggers. Social conservatives and free-market fundamentalists. Nothing but ignorant extremists who either belong to a mental institute or are bought by big business and the religious right, or both. Of course, I am being slightly unfair. I can tolerate some tea-baggers like John Boehner, and thankfully they elected someone with some sense as the Speaker of the House. However, I still do not like him, and most tea-baggers are far worse.

In my case, my best interest is clear. As long as the tea-party pushes for their tyrannical social policies behind the facade of fiscal responsibility, I am with Obama and the Democratic party. If the price of freedom is debt and outrageous spending, then so be it. Now, if the tea-party wants to give up its socially conservative agenda, and actually be serious about fiscal responsibility, then I would be supportive of them.

Re: Obama takes a dive

Oh, lets just say screw the government, and just put a big assed A for Anarchy tattoo on our foreheads, and where a bunch of smiley face T-Shirts with a bullet hole in the head.

Come on Justinian, what sort of government would you like?  Democrat/Republican?  OR something more surreal like marxism, Anarchy, fascism, matriarchy, MILF?  OH sure, big breasted old woman running the government for sex....well it's just one of those ideas.  But you post how the republicans crap on us, and when you think the democrats crap on us.

Are you looking for some sort of Golden Age of politics, cause it's gone and dead.  This is the after the apocolypse government we're talking about.  The stock crash was the bomb, and now everyone is picking up the pieces.  HEll the bank foreclosed on my mom's house, she now lives in a small camper, that's the sort of world we're living in right now.

Still your the sort of person that would blame Obama for the bank foreclosing on my mom's house?  Seriously?  Your going to blame Obama and the democrats for Wall Street screwing around with Oil Futures, Maddoff for his grand theft larceny, and Big Business for laying off millions of workers when the housing bubble burst?

Seriously, that is beyond pathetic.  Blaming one group for the complete fault that belongs to the business market end?  That's just wrong.

Re: Obama takes a dive

Key,

I just want a government that governs with stewardship and far-sightedness. I don't care what type of government it is as long as it satisfies those conditions. The people we have now are short-sighted and avaricious on both sides of the aisle. But the tea-party is presently worse, with their unyielding tyrannical social policies that are defended under the guise of "fiscal responsibility."

Re: Obama takes a dive

Well I'll agree and disagree on the whole Tea Party.

We definately need a third party, and the Tea Party could be that third party.  But they need to get rid of that image of extremism.  That extreme, our way or the highway doesn't work, unless they intend to fix our nations highways....but that would mean SPENDING money on our roadways, which they are not willing to do.  Neither was our government.

But considering how much money they supposedly CUT, I'm going to guess they probably CAN afford to fix our nations highways and bridges now.....but their not going to do that.  You know why?  "Because there is no money to spend."  Well I would believe that if they were actually taking care of our national debt, but that's not up for debate in congress currently.  What is up for "ongoing debate" will be the Universal Health Care Law.

Oh and i use the full term, Universal Health Care law, because that is what it's CALLED.  I don't use that freak assed, i'm scared mommy phrase, "Obamacare" used by the jackasses called republicans.

Still, the Tea Party are currently poltiically naive, but then again, so was congress 200 years ago around 1776.  All non-politicians have to take babysteps going into politics.  And they will learn the reality of "backroom deals" in time.  They'll also learn how to take payments under bathroom stalls, and twist the numbers to suit their own agenda like every other politician.

Still would be nice to have a working government, but that's an oxymoron in the 21st century.

=^o.o^= When I'm cute I can be cute.  And when I'm mean, I can be very very mean.  I'm a cat.  Expect me to be fickle.

Re: Obama takes a dive

SO now it turns out that $23.8 billion dollars of the "cuts" was money allocated for 2010 and not spent, so, without any deals or budgets, it would have gone back to the Treasury anyhow.

Boehner got $15 billion of new cuts.

WHAT A [really really big ugly] LIAR.  Please Jesus, let this deal fail in the House by 300 votes.

And we're headed for anarchy anyhow, this country is gonna go Weimar.

Ron Paul isn't my first choice but wouldn't be so bad. He might put US back on track if its not to late by then. Still there are better candidates on reps side.

Re: Obama takes a dive

Congressional Budget office says the actual cuts are really $352 million.

starts with $100,000,000,000

"prorated" to $61,000,000,000

offers $32,000,000,000

claims to have got $38,000,000,000

said to have got $15,000,000,000

now down to $352,000,000.

Better than the dull party politics in Europe.

US citizens at least picked someone. Europe picked this clown as "president" for their civilians:
