Topic: New Attacking Guide
Intro
Just making this post mainly for new players or bankers wishing to try their hand at attacking. Been requested to make a simple guide, so i'll keep it basic
Race
Camaar is for those hardcore attackers who want to focus solely on attacking. need to build heavy RC! Speed is a massive help but opps suck. you will need good supporting players to be an efficient camaar.
Custom gives u more freedom for choosing rc, and opps. however the speed gives you a disadvantage against camaars.
Spread
As an attacker you want to set up on the borders and inside of your core, i say inside because if you lose your borders you have nothing to fall back on. 3/4 ticks apart when spreading, this will change when you start attacking. but u want to be able to cover a large area. Do not make the mistake of trying to set up a secondary core with only 3 planets. sometime its wise to stock down portals while you gain control. meaning u may have 3/4 portals per system, until you are sure its safe to pass them off. Do not spread out too far from start. ease your way out the core
Targets
Be wise in picking your targets, your goal is planet gain, do not start something that will result in stupid ping pong. (back and forth planet swapping) It's important to organise your hits. make sure you research the family you are going for. and make sure you can achieve your goal in a suitable time frame. (dont go to bed with half a job done) you will wake up and have to start all over again.
Fleet
Always have an excess number of transports for your ground, if u need to jump fast, you dont want to wait for transports. Remember now military bonus works, so the higher the % the more effective your units will be, combined with FA (fleet admiral tag) & NF (no fear) your forces are going to cause alot of damage. make soldiers for defence purposes. This will prevent being caught by a smaller fleet if your attacking. i suggest 70/30 or 60/40 ratio droids/soldiers. always make sure you have enough fighters, and be careful when attacking someone with around the same amount. either run them down, wait for the enemy to station or use opps. losing a large % of droids from fighters is not a good idea.
Tricks
- laser traps, people dont use them enough, as attacker make sure you have some nasty suprises hanging around, it may save your bacon
- DS always get your DS to back you up if you can
- High agent count, very important, if the enemy cant get the info, the more mistake they will make
- if a small attacker is below your reach and is clearing bankers in a system u share. hover your banker and you can attack once the enemy attacker hits. if successful they will lose all transports and all bombers.
- leave a small amount of figs out. if i had 50k figs, i'd leave 10k in my fleet. hover the rest elsewhere so they cannot be destroyed. leaving 10k figs out will confuse enemies trying to test your figs before a ground hit. 2k isnt enough!
- if you raid a player who has 10 planets in a system, leave a high % of fighters at the last planet, if an enemy banker is retaking and gets lazy, they may "use all" their force to retake, they will hit ur figs and it will hurt. do not leave your figs here for longer then 20 minutes ![]()
- when clearing a shared system, NEVER attack in order, dont hit planet 1,2,3,4 instead go ,3,1,2,4 this will prevent having ur fleet caught by a bigger attacker or being DU'ed by a nerd with no life!.
- if a system is owned by an enemy always test for a DS. and when doing fig checks always send 500 ground too incase the p is not portalled. will save you morale.
Good luck attackers. learn by doing, but remember to be very unpredictable. and dont get lazy.
