somebody went back in time and stole my joke 
the SG timeline suffers from overinflation kinda like the show's baddies were getting even bigger and badder all the time the timeline exploded from somewhere around the ancient Egyptians and classical era with the Goa'uld into a cannonade of millions of years.
the assumed wisdom is that destiny is definatly older than atlantis and such, as evidenced from the more backwards gates, the torture like control chair, the lack of drones, etc. I don't think the kino's are that advanced, the "modern" ancients were probably able to have even smaller objects in the air we just never saw them (the kino's are obviously a very handy plot devise that improves the show a lot so they deserve some slack with it). Ultimately the exact age of Destiny doesn't really matter that much though, since Destiny was a special project designed for extreme durability and self-sufficiency it's obvious that this involves a different kind of tech than the fancy atlantis era tech where there were ZPM's and ancient facilities all over the place. You wouldn't take your ordinary smartphone scubadiving you would take something built for durability and longevity instead of short term peak performances, so it makes sense that the ancients wouldn't be able to get an unmanned atlantis style cityship to the end of the universe. But the show creators probably went with the already tried and tested option of inflating the timeline even more because it's cooler to have the oldest ship around.
I think their main problem was not thinking big enough. They handcuffed themselves initially with a very small window of time for everything that happened instead of making use of potential billions of years. Probably because most of Stargate revolved around a period when humans would have been evolved to current levels to be taken from earth and spread around by the goauld.
But for the SGU writers to introduce multiple time frames that are in-congruent with previously established time lines just shows a lack of research and respect to their previous works. They should know most of the people who watch the show are holdovers from SG-1 and SGA who are going to be able to pick out the differences.

Was universe because it used all the main races from SG-1 and SGA (at least the cool ones with lots of background info and technology)

How much do you think it would cost for the violations of their copyrights and trademarks for everything i based it on?
hmm I think they are entitled to everything you DID earn from other people as a right of abusing their established copyright, and an equity right to an injunction against you doing it ever again.
so if you earned $1 they get that, and you get ordered to stop selling it.
BUT if you created intellectual property using their copyrights, to sell to them for the enhancement of their copyrights, and they deliberately cheat you of your inherent copyright in your own work, to avoid paying you for "Stargate:Universe", then you are entitled to what you WOULD HAVE earned off them.
Yay They killed one character and ditched another!
This show feels much more real now. I'm glad that they're leaving that SG1 format where the characters would run out guns blazing killing hundreds while all of their enemies missed wildly.
Hurray for now being able to wonder whether or not a character will survive!
The aliens in the last episode reminded me of wardancers.
