I would suggest also a longer tick. After you get older and have less time to play IC ex-hardcore players lose their edge.. their experience cannot match a good rookie's activity..

If you make longer ticks (say 2h ticks...) the game play will get smarter and less intense.

More brains, less clicking. More optimization, more strategy. Less "I am 12 and can stay online all day".

Very nice post mate, was a good refreshing read.  I really like the mining research idea and we certainly could use some new units.  When I came into this game attacking was all i did, now im a lazy resource whore that could really care for attacking, and this isn't because attackign isn't fun, it just got too repetitive.  Something definately needs to be altered, and new units could be the trick.

Maybe we could also add in some new ops/spells?  Say....a new opp that could render the opponent incapable of using opps for that tick or so.  I don't know, just throwing an idea out there tongue




This is really something that all of IC needs to consider.  The game is dieing...slowly but surely...and it's up to us to find a way to slap stefan into action.  Because unless a majority of us rally together, he won't do crap.  I would say we could threaten to stop buying VIP's from him, but then he might just shut down IC all together tongue

i agree with grat.. attacking is repetative, and eco is all thought out really, now its jsut about managment...

i would actually suggest shorter ticks like 30 minutes.

and i agree, new units would be interesting and as Noir said, everybody knows how to do a start of the round strategy, how to ob, only people who do it actively have the best infra around.

Id prefer shorter rounds- say 4 weeks with maybe 10 expos to start with, and much bigger starting resources.

But whatever changes are made to keep experienced players interested, I dont think that will solve the main problem which is that not enough new players are coming to the game.

Ic needs a regular flow of new players.

There plenty of text based games that are nowhere near as good as IC yet  seem to be better at attracting new players (e.g bushtarian etc..) I think part of the reason is that those games are regularly listed on the Free RPG games vote sites.

IC needs to get voting.

have bombers being able to destroy infrastructure and population. so its kinda like in world war II with people doing bomber runs. This would add another element to attacking by destroying economies.

4 weeks is kinda short...not many conflicts will take place there...

longer ticks will just make everyone seem inactive...and imagine if mfs take 30hrs to build if u put each tick to be 2hrs long...everyone will just be bored to death and the game will die faster

bomber runs seem interesting...but how many pple will do it if u got 250 buildings on each planet=P

Like I said, you guys don't tell me, or anyone about anything, and we can't discuss it... So how would we know... In the US you can find any police report you want online... Maybe its to much trouble to ask for people to have a reasonable defense when your trying to delete their empire they have spent all this time getting to where it is, but from what I have seen you can never convince a mod to change their decision after they make it... Matter of fact you won't even take time to hear what the person has to say, especially if its someone like Big Gary or Anubis... any other person would have taken like 20 hours to get a block on, you guys managed it on them in what? 2 mins of them breaking the rules? Thats a little ridiculous...

The best way to make ic more popular is to speed up the tick time. c'mon 1 turn in 1 hour, how slow and boring is that!

But if u make tick time 5min or so (maybe in special galaxies) then the game will change completely.

Attacking in MW is SO repetative that the old hands dont want to bother anymore...nothing is new. 1/3rd the time invested into attacking compared to a couple years ago.

everyone know's how to infra whore....its not that hard if you take 15 minutes to learn the info from the guide and think for a few minutes...


we need some new races, we need 2 new units...whatever they may be.  It's not like the community is asking for new graphics.


Basic idea's to save IC:

1) new units -- 2 alone would change up things dramatically. Not saying mine specifically...but we need some new units to change how attacking is done.

2) changing up how some units interact with each other. Excess bombers able to target ground units would be a boon to the attacking strategy, but not make things too unbalanced as it would still cost a LOT of morale to bomber run ground and not be all that effective tongue.  It would be too difficult to code things where excess bombers target infra, really...doesnt seem all that worth it as you are bombing one planet and not all planets. wink

3)  new research...mining research. Really, I dont know why we dont have it yet.  We have so many that are resource base...This would also change how families prepare for wars.

4) New race bonus?  make it possible to have a +50% defense bonus to choose from instead of purely attack bonus?

5) Map styles and home system locations.    Balance out the number of families per system. Stop crowding in several families into one sector and then have 3-5 all by themselves in another. Change up the design if at all possible.

it was me, The idea wasnt binned but the concept got binned after the closed beta if i am correct.

If there is a consensus...the mods can take it to Stephan. The truth of it is that many dont think anything can be done...so they dont bother (this applies to a couple mods I've chatted with).


Before, the community rallied together for change...but never said what they wanted...nothing got done because of this. When the community has gotten together for a specific change.... a couple times that has happened (not saying all the time).

oh btw as for the resource* sience, in think that is mainly represented in Recourse bonus on planets. Evens out the lack off sience for it a bit since bankers dont have 'money' bonus planets

since stefan is lazy... if he doesnt want to then make the resource research he can just put bonus's on planets like 5x higher... and hide resource bonus's when exploring...
