not sure about everyone else... but I definately do not see a problem with 43 cancelling honorably on 40/41. It seems like from the attack logs shown above that 31 isn't really in the fight so it's basically 40/41 farming (retaking) 25 right? Not to mention, they're already hitting 35 (41's allies) so in a sense it will be 43 vs both fams.
40/41 both had the ability to call off the attacks on 25 yet continued (and the listed attacks show it) also hit my fam for well more planets than we retook (33). Did 40/41 really expect 43 to to allow them to remove 35 from every share before cancellation? Why? 2 vs 1 fair because 43 is bigger? If they would have used more fleet/morale to go after 25 than to use it up hitting us for multiple portals maybe 25 wouldn't have been close enough to retake?
Go 43 vs 40/41 (I know I'm just an outsider watching in, but this is what seems to me is going to be the final real war
Way I figure it... 43 is man enough to allow their allies to get hit like crazy while they give plenty of preparation time, knowing it could very well be a 2 vs 1!
So, looks like the farming has begun, and so has our refusal to fight 
43 might not be looking to farm us, but 35 has no issue starting already.
Oxygen, i don't blame you, you got put in a bad spot, by all measures you can do as you please, but if the tables were turned, i would never have canceled on us, as we pose no threat to contention for the round win.

1. 31 is escaping relatively unscathed because 35 has been clearing us from 31's core since day 1.
2. we dont really have the ability to call off attacks on 25. what would we do, nap a fam that has already broke a nap on us once? fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me...

And... before you ask, I've hit one person at war prior to knowing they were at war (3920) and they are fighting our allies and this was only a single planet. Other than that, retakes on planets 41 took from us are justified. And 31 refusing to fight? WTF is up with that?
/me thinks any "war declaration" should be noted on the attack page stating "This family is at war with xxxx family, do you really want to attack". In case of 41, yes, I'd retake my planets regardless.
Possibly even adding code that if ia fam is at war and attacks a fam they haven't declared war upon it's a -50% attack bonus, keep those families from hiding behind war and hitting other fams with their war fleet.
