I'm talking about the present as well. For the past 3 years, they're experiencing a rather good economic revival. They manage to attract quite some companies, unemployment numbers are going down etc. Besides, Flanders thrived because of Walloon investments in Flanders for about a whole century (19th till more or less WWII), it's only fair that we support them in their economic low tides (wich only started in the '70s). Things are changing, support it and pick the fruits of it later.

No, the separatist movement is declining: the VB party is dying. N-VA is thriving, wich clearly shows people aren't fed up with Wallonia itself, but with the immoblism of the last 3 years. A sign the Walloons understood. With the coming state reform and the solving of BHV, those frustrations will go away.

For this i included the N-VA in the separatist movement, this sounds pretty seperatist to me. Basically (if i understand it correctly) they want parts of Belgium to have control over their own politics (autonomous), which seems like a very big step towards seperation.

N-VA = Nieuw-Vlaamse Alliantie, or litterally translated New Flemish Alliance.

ummmm no. it comes from having potential legal or political repercussions to your behaviour. when you do something wrong or right you will make the news, we've had an EU commission resign over media reports of corruption for example; perhaps you simply do not pay much attention.

And I do know quite a bit of EU parlementerians but then I'm a lawyer so I'm not very representative. I highly doubt that many americans know a lot about their senators or congressmen until they do something warranting media attention like hitting on men in public lavatories or groping youths on the street. Doesn't mean they aren't accountable.

They do spread info, but national ministers usually take the credit for it. You'll notice how only extremely unpopular measures are "from Europe"

Well, yes and no. The N-VA wants Flanders to be a independent republic in the EU. Meaning that certain things that are now in ou federal governments hands should be given to Europe and others to the remaining parts of Belgium. So, it's a very long term process, and I'm sure that most of the people don't want an "independent Flanders", like not every socialist voter wants a state that's completely egalitarian, or a liberal voter wants a complete Laissez-faire economy.
