It's because there's no evidence of hygiene being an issue, so talking about it as if there was would just be stupid and ignorant. Additionally, who would suggest it had anything to do with government? Wow.

how is hygiene the fault of the government?
He was initially making the claim that hygiene was a possible reason for circumcision rates in the US vs the UK. Then he apparently forgot what he was talking about and rambled about government influence on hygiene. Obviously it was my fault.
Please explain to me, in simple terms, how the cleanliness of a population can have no effect on the performance of their health.
Then please explain to me how it is impossible that America's private healthcare system could be made to look bad by the people simply not trying to stay in good health.
Circumcision is an example of Americas problem: time, money, resources, manpower, all wasted on something that does not need to be done if people take care of themselves properly, i.e. wash their penis.
This may sound small, but ~2,000,000 of these unneccessary (in my opinion) operations were performed in 2007, costing $100-200 each. That's, ~$300,000,000 a year.
And then there are the complications, like a narrowed pee-hole (because it's not protected any more) leading to infections and incontinence.
Then there are things like cysts, ulcers, necrosis (tissue-death) of part/all of of the penis, impotence...
All caused by the fact that the surgeon has to guess at how much flesh to remove because he has to guess at how much, and in what way, the penis will change as the child grows.
And because nobody washes their penises properly.

I just pointed out that there are cultural factors surrounding the practice of circumcision--not hygiene concerns--primarily motivating its practice today, Fokker.
It wasn't that complicated. Nobody cares what you think of me. Nobody is impressed by you being impressed by you.

He would have to pay much less for it than you are taxed for your socialized medicine. And he has access to tests not authorized (/covered/payed for) by your government for persons of your age and medical condition. Try to get expensive tests for things people your age/gender/condition aren't too likely to die from. They don't just give you free access to testing for everything all the time. Heavens no. They couldn't afford that. So now, limiting your access to care further, you're stuck paying for your overpriced socialized care, limiting your ability to afford those services not covered under your socialized medicine. And don't get sick, because not all treatments are covered either. You'll get what they've decided isn't too expensive for everyone. Your choice in the matter: none.
i don't have insurance so I can get a $80 visit if I book 2 weeks in advance, or spend 12 hrs at the ER
I generally prefer to spend 12 hrs at the ER if I have to
I've been to a doctor 2x in 6 years, once with pinkeye and once when I had cramps in my chest, arms and neck for 2 days
what happens in 2014 I dunno, because I doubt the GOP will repeal the health care bill. I won't participate.

No you did not.
If you had said "Hey, I think you should think about wether they circumcise for a cultural reasons rather than because they can't be arsed to wash" then I would have quite politely said "So reason your private healthcare system figures look like crap is not because of national hygiene standards, or lack thereof, but because of the jews?" Because I'd have no understanding of why being Jewish (or Muslim) would skew the healthcare figures.
