Like arms also said more or less, it take a lot of investment in the lawbook idd. But without denying the huge price for that I think its worth it. Its not because the world consumes more food, its mostly because the world consumes more "luxery" food. You need more grain to feed animals to have the same amount of food. That is good and bad news. Bad because it consumes more recources  and a lot of energy. Good because we can abandon paying farmers.

I however doubt the effectiveness of such small armies. The netherlands is a big dif with belgium perhabs but still, you depend completely on other nations in the event of an attack. Better have a EU army altogether starting with a few nations and maybe one day even start a EU policeforce.
