Genesis you bounce from saying "obama doesn't want higher gas prices" to saying "it's great Obama wants higher gas prices" to "Obama doesn't have anything to do with gas prices"  and belitting anybody who doesn't agree with your instant declared opinion.

My point of view is

Obama wants higher gas prices
It's stupid to want higher gas prices
Whatever you think we could do to demand lower gas prices, it'd work a lot better with a sympathetic President.

Invent a motor that works as well as a car, as long as acar, for as cheap as a car, and we'll throw the internal combustion engine away.  But anybody bitching about "urban sprawl" and "carbon emissions" can go spin a wind turbine.  I WANT urban sprawl.  It grows GDP and raises the standard of living.

I prefer to get energy independence by pumping and refining more gas.

And yes, shoving us towards more expensive cars with a shorter cruising radius and focusing on mass transport is working to destroy the automobile economy.  And the middle class.

By "automobile economy" I mean more than the industry of making and repairing cars.  I mean that and the other portions of the economy that depend on rapid, economic transport of persons and up to a thousand pounds of their chosen cargo from any two points connected by road.  So not just GM, but, any independent plumber.  Suburban developers.  Supermarkets.

my uncle tried to raise sheep

but anytime he got a little ram, the adult ram would eventually head butt it so hard, the little ram died

but now thanks to NFL he can raise all the sheep he wants

just paint an endzone between the lambs and the adult ram

Rams won't cross an endzone

> He doesn't actually do any of that, but you guys are too deep in your own anti-Obama mentality that it's near impossible to have an actual debate with you.<<

He doesn't want higher prices, like Spock quoted and you admitted he said?
He didn't make the destruction of the older model vehicle with silicate, a condition for the cash towards a new vehicle in Cash for Clunkers?
He doesn't push the Volt? It gets better than 50 miles a charge?
He isnt' pushing high-speed rail? High speed rail will carry your cars along?

Or you mean, he did all that but it doesn't add up to wanting destruction of the automobile economy? He's oblivious to the damage he's doing?

>I'm glad you're so self righteous. I wish I lived in that world too.<

Self-righteous apparently = winning with facts.

1.  Those of us who have paid attention to what Obama has said know, as Spock does, that he has come right out and said he wants very high gas prices here, and he wants the physical destruction of older car models (Cash for Clunkers required that as a condition of the grant), and he is promoting the Volt which has a radius of less than 50 miles; and his big infrastructure push is: high speed rail-- which doesn't improve the automobile economy one bit.

Barack Obama wants to destroy the automobile economy. He does not want households to have 2 cars or the common worker to hire himself out with a truck.  He wants to make that impossible to afford, unsupported by the auto industry, and regulated out of existence if necessary.  He does it, again, by destroying the viability of alternatives.

> I thought price hikes in California was due to explosions at refineries.<

That's what they said, and it's great that they fixed it so quickly then.  It's as if opening a grand jury enquiry sped up maintenance or something.  But of course we know its just coincidence.

Obama wants higher gas prices because he wants to destroy the car economy.  Like all his other programs, they achieve success by crippling alternatives.  That's why everything he does is based on mandates, monopolies and bans.  The progressive agenda is wholly destructive.

Oh and CA has its own gas standard, so it cant use gas from other states.  And Obama could have broken that up, like Bush did after Katrina halted Gulf Oil drilling.  But Obama wants higher gas prices.  He wants to shrink and wither that portion of the economy that is helped by oil production and oil consumption.  As he told the Gulf oil workers after he banned oil drilling in the Gulf for a time, "Whats the problem, you can get benefits"

I keep asking why a steam engine can't turn an alternator to power electric motors, instead of carrying a $5,000 battery that dies in 7 years.

The answer seems to be:

1. Nobody but steam geeks gives a damn about steam!
2. Steam geeks demand the car run by mechanical steam power, not electrical power provided by a steam generator!
