from your last link "Don't get me wrong-- Blizzard is still making a lot of net money on the deal, easily into the hundred millions. But it's not as easily as multiplying what you're paying by ten million, because that's just not the case."

also, WoW is 62% of the MMO market.... lets not pretend that game developers can make 100 mmo's and all of them have 11.5 million subscribers and make hundreds of millions of dollars... There are dozens if not hundreds of MMO's that come out every year, and many of them lose money and none of them come anywhere close to WoW's success...

Your wrong avo.  Plus i forgot to mention that all have bought the original game, and a majority have bought both expansions.  They sold 2.8 mil copies of the new expansion on the first day.

people in China don't have access to the last expansion and China accounts for half of subscriptions, so, no, you're wrong again... the majority don't have both expansions...

ummm, thats actually false, of the 11.5 million "subscribers" of world of warcraft, the vast majority play for free, like 70% or something and you talk about wow as if it costs them nothing to maintain servers and provide expansion packs; but it costs ALOT, servers for 11 million people is not cheap... also, the expense of making videogames is steadily rising, while new videogames still sell for $50-$60, so profit margins are shrinking.

And I will have to disagree and say that FIFA, the refs, the lack of technology, and the diving/faking embarrassed the sport.

all of that was pretty bad too tongue

Agree but for differenet reasons- Holland should not have finished the first half with 11 men on the pitch, the two footed chest high tackle was one of the clearest red cards ive ever seen.

Webb was far too reluctant to hand out reds, if he had shown a red earlier it might have been a better game, only one team wanted to play football  ( it wasnt holland )

would it have been much of a match though if it did go to 11 on 10 that early? i doubt it....  i think the only people to blame for such an ungly match are the dutch.

oh yeah, you mean off that free kick? guy in the wall deflected it? yeah... should of been a corner; but in this tournament calling a corner a goal kick is one of the lesser offenses of any ref...

the pass that resulted in the goal definitely was not offside, there was a pass that was to Iniesta shortly before that was stopped, where the guy might of been offside, can't tell from the angle, but the ball was stopped well before it reached him, so even if he was offsides, i don't think he should of been called off, he wasn't in the play at that time.

both goalkeepers had some nice saves

i disagree, the Netherlands did not play well; i would rather have my nation's team lose every game in a world cup that they play then to watch them play like the netherlands did and win the entire thing.  Yes, the Spanish weren't saints either; but their offenses pale in comparison.  It wasn't a Good game, so a simple "Good Game" would not suffice, the Dutch embarrassed themselves and the sport.

the better team won; i probably would of been pissed if Holland was rewarded for their style of play in this match; they're lucky they weren't several men down. Only big mistake with officiating was not giving de jong a red imo.

Xeno, when people say they are sticking it to the man, they don't have to literally mean a man; whether money has a physical brain or not is irrelevant...

Germany's offense has been so strong and Spain has been struggling to score single goals against inferior teams, and then theres the history of Spain choking in the world cup;  i'm shocked espn has spain has favorites.

no, i'm not. and its still relevant. we have already established in these forums countless times that there are plenty of countries with equally lax gun control as the US with very low murder rates; establishing that the US's gun control laws are not the cause of the US's high murder rate.

i was simply laughing at British propaganda specifying gun killings as if being killed is fine as long as its not by a gun.

yar, dieing by a gun is so much worse then dieing by a knife....  silly propaganda.

fyi, the healthcare bill that passed in the US does not allow you to pay for additional care if you can afford it. there is a committee thats goal is to lower money spent on medical care and who sets efficiency standards, if a doctor does not follow those standards, even if the individual pays for it and not his health insurance, no health care provider receiving any government funding can pay for any care for any person that goes to that doctor.  So individuals will not be able to find doctors willing to provide the best treatment available, even if the individuals are willing to pocket the entire bill themselves.

yes, they are metric.... and americans are supposed to be ignorant of other cultures....

the philosophy of star trek was so bullshit... they talked about a desire to improve humanity, but there is no objective way to improve humanity. aliens would be just as likely to be horrified at a welfare system then would be of us letting some of our populations suffer from malnutrition..

and there will always be hardships, because no matter how easy life becomes, there will be things easier then others, and subjectively we will call some of them hardships because we haven't experienced anything harder.

what? those people got shot? impossible! they're in the UK with some of the strictest gun laws anywhere, criminals can't get a gun there, the story must be false!

south americans are too cocky when it comes to football... i wouldn't coach one of them until after the 2014 wc, after they are humiliated on home field.

"basically, using your logic, its impossible to serve humanity, because two people just need contradictory goals and then its impossible to serve both of them."

I didn't say it is impossible.  Humanity (human beings as a whole, rather than the species) could, perhaps, be served by civilization.  But there would have to be some fundamental changes to civilization in order for this to happen.

For he moment, civilization doesn't even serve the interests of the species, let alone the interests of humanity.  We are in no way prepared to have our species carry on after an extinction level asteroid impact on Earth, as we do not yet have viable colonies on other planets.  As for civilization serving humanity, over a third of the human population is malnourished / starving.  These two facts alone are enough for us to plainly see that civilization is an utter failure in it's mandate to serve the interests of the species and humanity as a whole.

you didn't say it was impossible, but the requirements you made, make it impossible. you cant serve every human...  yes, we dont have colonies on other planets, to carry on the race if an extinction level asteroid impacts the earth, but we have the tools and technology where it is likely we would see such an asteroid long enough ahead of time where we could change its trajectory enough to miss the earth and save humanity; enough so where an asteroid hitting the earth is one of the most unlikely ways for humanity to become extinct.  over a third of the human population is malnourished/starving? well, how much was malnourished/starving 1000 years ago? civilization has cleary significantly reduced the percentage an impressive amount in relatively little time...
