On a more serious note, where do you think the money will be tomorrow? I hear a lot of predictions about this like "the middle class is going to disappear" or "the middle class will grow stronger" etc so I thought it deserves its own thread.
This is double. It can make Cuba stronger and on the long term increase tensions with US or on the contrary it can make Cuba more free. Dunno how it will develop. Any thoughts?

Haven't seen JA for a long time now. And the forum is less active for the last few years anyway. But it idd makes sense that the opposite side off the ruling fraction is more active. Sounds perfectly logical to me.

I'm a European and I fear the Russian gov. Doesn't matter who "they" are pissed at. Its just a power play. If they can, they will use their energy weapon to blackmail Europe. And for what its worth, I still have more faith in the EU as in the failed new tsar.
I still hope one day the Russians will overthrown this new dictatorship and establish a democracy.
The EU finally starts to see the dangers of Russian gas. I hope they will diverse their supply now however I think nothing will happen.
same goes for US, though EU is still worse.

anyway, the problem indeed lies in gov funding like schniepel and zarf said. I can understand a strategic reserve to make sure people don't starve but right now we pay five times for our EU food products:
1.)We pay taxes to help them produce. Because production prices are higher as consumer prices
2.)We pay export taxes to make sure we don't have the destroy food on TV-movies which disturb us
3.)We pay for it with a lot of useful space.
4.)We pay for them not to grow some fields because there is overproduction because of subsidies
5.)We pay for it by having pollution.
Gov should stop funding these large amounts of cash into this crazy business. It would save us a lot of money and troubles and at the same time mean the biggest development aid (be it indirect) in history.
tell me then what good info you got on it now. It will sure help me make a decision if I knew more about it. I'm not the only person in the world who thinks that way.
Can't even believe nobody is talking about nuclear radiation or nuclear subs. What a retarded debate. Next to that no missile shield will stop all Chinese or Russian nukes. Stop dreaming. And one missile into the strat would cause enough damage already.
Such a missile shield will only stop a few nukes at best.

I believe the global warming topic needs more research projects. I know a lot of people firmly for or against it but frankly hardly ever come up with any good evidence. Fact is there is little. Or at least that is my opinion. Anyway whether for or against it, I think we need some decent research about the matter. More research would make it harder for both sides to bias the facts and quit making important decisions about the subject without any decent understanding of the matter.
Often it looks like both sides are afraid of decent research. Can't help it but when I even use the word they often reply: "can't you see its obvious we don't need research". As irony has it I hear it from both sides while I admit I frankly don't know whether its true or not. I had some green guy talking about cities looking like ants-and ants are destined to die out (wtf ?) -but to their defense their opponents don't make much sense either.
