Exactly. Part of becoming what we are today involved learning to kill, I would not be surprised if it was hard written into our DNA.

"Man cannot kill man."

Want to come within arms reach and say that? Of course not, that would involve risking your life in a futile attempt at proving that I, a man, cannot kill you, a man.

I can kill a man. With the right tools I can kill many men. With the right tool I could kill all men, perhaps even all life on the planet. Ultimately what I said is true, wether you can accept it or not: There is nothing I cannot kill, nor destroy.

Erf had not seen a Human female before, and was surprised by her apparent lack of size. "Subcommander, I'll keep this short," She said sternly, "The UEF does not fire on civillian targets, ever, but we will discuss this later. We will be leaving in ten minutes, can you hold out that long?"

The Wardancer suddenly seemed very upset and cut the communications channel. "The Wardancers are changing course and speed," The officer called out, causing Logan to curse under his breath as he quickly cancelled the fleet manuver order, "They are heading directly towards the Kallum." Samantha turned to Carl, "I'd better make a note of their fragile egoes." Carl grinned, "They struck me as the delicate sort." Samantha leaned forwards in her chair, "Hmm. We'd better take advantage of this while we can. Science," She called over her shoulder, "Tactical," She addressed the officer at one of the consoles in front of her, "Continuous scans of the Wardancer vessel".

There is no thing I cannot destroy,
I am man.

What happened?

"If you ask the common folk, they would say, Gas and Oil is pretty expensive.  You take over a country for oil and pay triple for it 5 years later ?"

I'd invade a country for it's resources, and to forcefully create a future business market, and then I'd raise the price of the aforementioned resources for the purpose of plausible deniability.
Then I would be able to use the resources however I saw fit without having to worry about voters moaning about how all my tanks have turbo chargers and while they have all been forced to give up their 4X4's.
Genius.

That would depend on who you ask. Ask the Iraqis or Iranians and they'll say America, ask the Georgians and they'll say Russia, ask the Africans and they would say everyone if they were smart enough to realise the mining deals were not in their favour.

"Imagine Iran running free w/o US Carriers in the Persian Gulf ?"

Self interest.
Iran is as much of a threat as North Korea; ultimately if they do the things that the USA says they would do without the US Military watching over them then their lives, their worlds, would end.

It is spam. Inside spam actually.

I see nothing wrong with enlightened self interest, however, all I see is basic, short sighted, self interest.

ONLY influenced it? Because of the Normans the English language went from being a germanic based Old English that sounded a lot like Flemish (yes it did) to Middle English, which was so incredibly messed up it became too damn difficult to learn.

Any post that is so obviously loaded is not a good one; I think BW is just looking for an argument.
As for the original question:

I wouldn't let the aid workers in either, not because they might be soldiers or secret agents out to get but because they would have outside ideas, and more importantly outside news. To be honest I don't see the mystery, surely the answer was as obvious to everyone else as it was to me, or do we not have the ability to put ourselves in another man's shoes?

We couldn't very well have been put here with everything...? Huh?

Actually it was the French; most of our silent letters are thanks to the Norman invasion in 1066. tongue
