I was waiting for a cop hate rant from the whole Brown thing, nice to see that it hasn't happened yet. Only two people know for certain what happened and one can't talk. I will tell you this, the UN has strict rules for use of lethal force by police. As for the title of the thread, in queensland the only unit with military style vehicles is our equivalent to swat. The service rifle is an m4, but the need for an assault rifle has come about due to America and her active shooters at university campuses.

In short, those who are ignorant to the facts should wait on the truth. Mob mentality leads to mistakes and more wasted loss of life.

I think there are two things going on there.

1) When you explore I think it takes you out of p-mode
2) p-mode only protects planets that you have owned for longer than 78 hours

Do either of these sum up the situation? Clearly exploration has happened (and I will test in our testing gal whether this brings you out of pmode to confirm, I'm fairly certain it does), but how long had you owned the planets?

Personally I use mirc, others use icechat or mibbit a bit. If you are using an old setup make sure it is trying to connect to irc.imperialconflict.com on port 6667.
