Uwe Boll isn't happy with Wired's review of Postal. We attended the US premiere of the game-to-movie director's latest film and didn't find it especially funny. Boll, in turn, doesn't find us especially funny. Here's the email we receieved yesterday evening:

chris
your review shows me only that you dont understand anything about movies and that you are a untalented wanna bee filmmaker with no balls and no understanding what POSTAL is. you dont see courage because you are nothing. and no go to your mum and [have dinner with] her  ...because she cooks for you now since 30 years  ..so she deserves it.
people like you are the reason that independent movies have no chance anymore.
uwe boll
PS:  POSTAL is R RATED   . The MPAA understood the satire  -- you not -- you dumb [Quaker]

YOU PHILISTINES!
Can't you hear the SOUL of this genius cry out even in a simple email? The boiling creative fervent?  The total lack of grammar creating a raw energy that hurtles us through the total character of "your mom", who cooks "since 30 years" and "[loves] you" and not mindlessly but in the fullness of God's Creation--"so she deserves it"  in this simple sentence uberuwe affirms the essential justice of the universe while reducing it to human dimensions.  What a breath of fresh air from the turgid Euroweenie cookie cutter nihilism that has so many of us turning to Bollywood---keep Michael Moore, give us Uwe Boll!

WEST: Aw man, they're so cuddly cute!
PRC: Sorry.
WEST: We'll be your friend!
PRC: Hmm, you can take it home with you for a while.  But you gotta give it back.
WEST: Cool! A panda!

You know David Souter is a "Name" at Lloyds of London?  I couldnt beleive that was legal. How can a Justice of the United States Supreme Court have unlimited liability in a foriegn corporation?  What's next Dave, ya gonna make short-term loans from the Gottis?

Ugh British banks... Americans have a strong fear of British banks-- i think because when our banks go FUBAR the govt always says. "Hey, at least our banks dont go under like British banks!"

Liar! We walked outside to a hole in the ground and crapped in that!  None of your mangy European scatodefenestration here--even then we had American plumbing!!

Ok here's what I'm gonna back to the hilt when I join the game

XRM. Xerium technologies.

An overextended paper manufacturer that hasn't recovered from buying out shoji inc in 2006. Check out its performance over the past year at nyse.com. It lost 75% of its value on March 31st when it announced it would default on payments and cancelled its dividend. Its facing bankruptcy.

So what the hell, right?

It's gained 9% back each day for the last two days. It just got a deferment on its default thru May 1st. Its got too many assets in too many countries to be worthless and the new management is really trying. It suffered a panic March 31 but it will recover a good deal of its lost value over the next month. Whether it sells off what it acquired in 2006, gets new financing, is bought out entirely, or even if it files a reconstruction bankruptcy (chapter 11) it's bound to be worth more in may than the $2 it costs right now. Since thats all you nOObs want from your stocks I say buy buy buy.

What say you BW and windowsME?  Calling your broker irl to max out your credit cards?

would you play in the stock game in general, BW?

I have a strategy now...  all I will say is visit nyse.com n00bs and click some dropdown options

since the n00bs just want to see who gets the most +% in a short time I'm gonna do something I'd never do with real money  muhahaha

simple answer is the local militia were given muskets as that replaced pikes and swords.  But pikes and swords  remained dominant until the mid-1600s, and by that time in Britain Cromwell gave the anti-monarchists a whole standing Army, a New Model Army that was one of the best organized in Europe.

After the Restoration militia were promoted by the Crown and nobility as a great way to keep the plebs from forming another standing Army and promoting revolution.

This is technoblasphemy!

Yeoman archers were important because Britain had a broader percentage of its population that was trained for war, although mostly as a very short-term force. That was one reason centralised power didnt come to britain really until the Tudors. And thats because Tudor monarchs were more able and determined to kill noble powermongers than Plantagenets would have dared. Eventually through Cromwell the political and military power of the English commons was superior in force and organization than anything King or nobles could front.  From then on the nobility was just a powerful faction that helped pick kings favorable to the masses.
