Yeah our standards are shaped by civil wars that lasted 25 years and killed up to 40% of the populace. But us Cold Warriors are being crated for museum display, we're not believed these days

I won't vote for either, but I'm to the right of Rush Limbaugh on that one.

I want a federal government that doesn't take responsibility for everybody's household budget, less regulation and taxes, a stronger military, a coherent foriegn policy, and strict constructionist judges. I see both McCain and Obama against that. Sure Obama is more against it. But the GOP won't discipline all its members to deliver those things, so it finds it easier to keep the porkers and the weasels and the pinkos and declare pork, ambiguity and socialism are the New Coalition.

McCain is the champion of that philosophy. And if he won, the GOP would insist they abandon the pesky, losing conservative agenda forever. So, I won't help him win.

BW and I were politically aware during the 1970s and 1980s.  We have a memory of Angola and Mozambique and Kampuchea and Uganda and Namibia and Peru and El Salvador and the Philippines and Beirut.

Iraq is doing fine and will be fine, if we don't leave it buttnaked for Turkey, Iran and Syria to carve into zones.

"You mean, when someone is a tool, and they are called such.....
TheYell will be there to "Edit" it out ??"

You want to say somebody is a dupe for their political views, fine. Or that their whole country is messed up, that is why this thread is here.   The apolitical, completely personal flaming AND its flamey responses are going to be reduced to a word puzzle.

"Here's my English Premier League all-star 11 for the recently completed season:

Chris Kirkland - Wigan

Kolo Toure - Arsenal
Joleon Lescott - Everton
Rio Ferdinand - Manchester United

Gareth Barry - Aston Villa
Steven Gerrard - Liverpool
Cesc Fabregras - Arsenal
David Bentley - Blackburn
Cristiano Ronaldo - Manchester United

Fenando Torres - Liverpool
Emmanuel Adebayor - Arsenal

Player of the year - C. Ronaldo followed by F. Torres
Everton player of the year - Lescott followed by Mikel Arteta

Only Ronaldo, Fabregas and Gerrard repeat from last year's team, though most in that team would populate the second and third choice units this year.

Some may be bothered that my first 11 includes no one from the great Chelsea team. But a combination of injuries and player rotation prevented many of Chelsea's top players from playing in all or nearly all the team's 38 league matches. Joe Cole led the team in starts (28) and appearances (33). Ashley Cole was the only other player to start more than 25 times. If I expanded to a second and third team both Coles would be included, along probably with a few others. "

I'm not sure actually, I think it just means puppet, but I never asked.  It's highly unflattering anyhow.

Certainly nothing to toss around a forum post!

Say, what about that Obama guy?

Turkey would NOT have to accept it, they can put 100,000 men beyond their borders anytime they like.  They threatened to do that to Syria a few years ago and Syria backed down.  Turkey has NATO equipment and unlike any other member of NATO apparently, the will to fight.  And nobody in NATO would fight to stop them.

Maybe I should seek the Democratic nomination...

Iraqis want to remain a solid country.  They're already a democracy and they're arguing over how to split their country.

I thought you didn't get green bananas because they are green on the tree and turn yellow as they ripen, and I didn't think a boat of bananas could cross the Atlantic in time for them still to be green.

Using "Cinderella" in a political context?

Hardly that! "Cinderella" is a classic flick but I'm sure nobody minds me using that line in a political context.

Islamism is the political agenda of a neofascist state built for restrictive application of Muslim law.

Islamist is a proponent of Islamism.

All Islamists are Muslims

But not all Muslims are Islamists.
