most newer cars will play mp3's. but it depends. it will usually SAY mp3 on the thing, whereas a regular cd player in a car will only play cd's that are burned with .wav files.

so you can put say, 140 or so songs on a cd under .mp3 or 18 songs under .wav

now, technically speaking, the 140 or so songs are considered to be FILES, whereas the 18 songs are considered to be SONGS. a cd player recognizes SONGS not FILES. a .wav file is 5 times (or more) the size of a .mp3 file which is why you have to burn it as files in order for it to put so many songs on the cd.
