there's a movie called "Patton" where they mention a US division is gonna march 90 miles in 72 hours and then fight once they get there.

also there's a book "Marines of Autumn" by James Brady where a Marine talks about the postwar Army that drilled four hours a day if the weather was good, and then gets its ass kicked.

the military, since the 1980s, has tried to be an outfit that is prepared to kick ass, not compare favorably to Panda Express for a quality of life experience

Contrary to what Obama and many government leaders are saying, this is not an unprecedented crisis nor a crisis that won't repeat again, and we don't have to pretend ignorance of what works and what doesn't.

The prime goal of Bush and now Obama was to prevent major firms from collapsing and that is a failed goal.

If he sets out using false arguments for a flawed goal, why the hell should I pretend I won't know for 20 years that he's botching it?

gospels said it was a donated tomb from joseph of arimathea.  jews would have stowed him somewhere, they didn't let people rot above ground.

yeah a second-person account is "historical evidence".  I mean, you don't have any autobiographical writings from Charlemagne or Pope Leo III testifying the one was crowned Emperor by the other....

Very educational article in the NYT about how stimulus is a proved winner, if you go big enough, lookit Nazi Germany.

Minus the fascism, of course...

Although Hitler "rebuilt" the economy he wanted, mostly war industry and labor with its balls in a sling. Sure that "booms" especially when you solve your trade imbalances with plunder and conquest and force other industrialized nations to take your debt in the armistice...

Don't be silly, she gets geriatric jokes

WoW is American so it oughta do a deal with the President to let world leaders log on as themselves and lead armies of mermen out of the sea to raid towns.

Everybody would appreciate getting pwnd by Nicolas Sarkozy or Vladimir Putin.
