Baratheon, what are the finer points of the topic? You haven't made any points, let alone "finer" ones.

My behavior does not qualify as trolling. My question was/is completely legitimate and on-topic. It's you who has refused to answer my question or otherwise post any content related to the thread's subject since creating it. My question is completely on-topic. You're completely off-topic.

This isn't rocket science. You're just raging about me to see if you can get me banned while you break the rules. Pretty funny stuff. smile

kingsnine, neither of you answered my questions.

Words have meaning. I didn't "group" you with what's-his-face in some general sense, I simply stated that neither of you answered the simple question I asked of you.

What "brush" fires are you talking about? Nobody here is discussing anything. I asked what possible relevance you thought this hypothetical had to politics and you couldn't give me any answer whatsoever. Referencing discussion that isn't happening doesn't create discussion. Nor does random trolling about social democracy, Einstein, beers, etc.

? Yeah we do.

It requires more energy to create than it produces when burned. Using it in place of gasoline produces more CO2 (if you're concerned about that) than just using gasoline. It has absolutely no benefit, by any measure (even those which many people dispute).

"Signs that your trolling is unsuccesful:
*Your victim identifying you as a troll."

For you to be so obsessed with this topic and have whined about it for months, it sounds like you've been counter-trolled. Nobody believes you couldn't find a definition of "trolling" on the web, so there's no really need to define counter-trolling either.

Also note that "trolling" is commonly used to refer to idiots looking for attention, beyond attempts at inflicting emotional distress. While "good" trolling (that is, trolling by non-morons) generally aims for emotional reactions in order to achieve the most entertaining responses, there are legions of idiots who will spam anything that they obviously do not sincerely believe just to get any attention at all. While these methods do not include the trademark aim of inducing emotional distress, both are people spamming because they hate themselves and want attention. "Troll" is, in common use, used to describe both.

"Hey, leader all around the world don't condone it, even when Guerilla type warfare was far read in these regions (_____), there where still a lot of buisness creating jobs"

What? Wanna try again?

Leaders all around the world don't condone what? Food? Huh? What? Are you serious?

Guerrilla warfare was "far read" in what regions? What does it being "far read" mean? What does it have to do with food? What are you talking about?

There "where still a lot of buisness creating jobs"? What does that mean? Did you mean that there was still a lot of job creation, despite the existence of food? What's the relevance of job creation to this topic? What does guerrilla warfare have to do with food and job creation?

"There wasn't a lot of pay, it destroyed a lot of forest lands, and a lot of people in the surronding area developed early stages that showed the signes of cancer. "

Wasn't a lot of pay for what?

What destroyed a lot of forest lands?

Lots of people get cancer all over the world. Are you suggesting that food caused abnormally high races of cancer? Where? What food? Why is all of this information missing from your post?

"Central & Southern America's people have all seen the horror's from the cause and effect from expansion into untoucthed territories in space. "

We've all seen Alien and even Aliens, mate. It's not just Central and Southern Americans' fear!!

I'm sorry I passed you off as an obvious troll before. But, as we can see, you left out a huge amount of information in your post above. Many of your statements were literally meaningless, having no subjects and frequently referring to pronoun objects which you never named. If you could do us all a favor and make sense, I'd be happy to respond to your legitimate, non-trolling post!

kingsnine & Baratheon, neither of you answered my simple and legitimate question. You provided absolutely no reason, despite all of your bloviating, why anybody cares or should care. What possible relevance are you claiming this outlandish hypothetical has to politics? We're on page 2 and you've offered nothing beyond "what if cancer research money is being embezzled to fund aids weaponization!? omg!"

I described the thread as asinine because it is. It has no purpose whatsoever. Its "what if" is pure fantasy with no connection to politics. It's not a serious thread. It's not asking questions with any bearing on the real world (and you never even tried to make the case that it did). It's just random spam. I've questioned what you think you're getting at with this bizarre hypothetical and you have been clear in your response: absolutely nothing.

Baratheon, considering that he/she mention learning about markets, there's no grounds to presume boasting about a substantial portfolio. You mad? lulz

"The flaw is with your insistence that political ideas be justified with these mysterious normative truths."

The idea of rights can be defined other than as mysterious normative truths. You've made it clear you have no interest in actually discussing the idea of rights, so it's awkward that you are, here, pretending to have actually made any argument against them. You haven't even addressed the way they're classically defined, let alone alternate definitions (based in pragmatism, maximizing worker motivation, justice, etc.) which could essentially provide people with these same freedoms by other justifications/rationales.

"The strong do what they can, the weak suffer what they must. Tired of the strong? Form a coalition and destroy them. That's my political philosophy."

That's like the political philosophy of a small child. You're proposing that mob rule is best. It's not stable, let alone anything else. You're arguing for authoritarians and fascists. The strong always achieve power, and they often move toward fascism in a desperate attempt to keep it. It's not stable. It's not just. And it sucks for 99.9% of members of such societies without strong culture, laws, and law enforcement limiting government power.

"My argument is forceful if enough people are willing to form a coalition and assert these liberties."

Until they achieve any power and force their "liberties" on others who see them as oppression. Take paying for trash's birth control, for instance. You demand it. Others demand not to be forced to pay for it.

How can your arguments be flawless? You've barely made any, and you've made none for your biggest claims in this thread.

"I'm totally empirical!"
"But what you're talking about in this thread is based entirely on personal preference?"
"Yes!"

890

(54 replies, posted in Politics)

What empirical basis do you have for valuing your liberty? Many oppressive means result in more productive individuals, forced to spend more time engaged in actions which enrich the state! This can empirically be measured beneficial!

You've not based your statements in this thread in anything remotely empirical, just your personal preference that contraception be OTC (presumably? you were vague) and that no laws interfere with it (and those on the books, presumably, be struck down). Care to offer us a rational explanation of how any empirical line of thought brought you to these preferences? Explanations and conclusions are much more useful in discussion than preferences and contradictions. tongue

It's hilarious how you redefine "rights" like a communist--as a positive good that must be produced for a person. Nobody believes in "rights" by this definition, the word is just misused this way in communist talking-points to hijack the otherwise meaningful language and muddy the waters of discourse. This is offensive to the English language. If you really want to explain that you don't believe in rights, I suggest responding to what the word actually means. None of the rights classically described (and made law in the USA) are "rights" by the nonsense definition you cited here, and you're hardly explaining why you disagree with the idea by referencing something else entirely.

If you believe in technocracy and democracy without inherent civil rights and limitations of government power, you have no basis for complaints about the policies this leads to. You don't believe you have any inherent right to the things you demand, so you're essentially just whining about the results [in this instance] of the unlimited government which you support. Good stuff.

(54 replies, posted in Politics)

As a voluntary slave of the state, why would anybody care what you think? You argue both that you have no rights, and that you'll get violent over your preferences... It sounds like you should be committed. You argue that you have no right to liberty, but that you'll get violent over a preference. That's hypocritical and nonsensical.

As a voluntary slave to the state, get used to the whims of your rulers or the majority. It's your stated preference. You shouldn't be telling us how you'll get violent over the results of your own preference. That just sounds like you're trolling and put no thought into the ideas you presented here.

What government are you talking about, anyway? Birth control is cheap as hell in the USA, and it's no more restricted than other medicine (which is admittedly poorly and overly restricted for the benefit of the healthcare and pharmaceutical mega industries). Sure, a bunch of people don't like it, but they hardly have the votes to get it outlawed anywhere. They have no legislative power. Hell, you can kill your kids halfway out of their mother's va-jay-jay in many places. What are you talking about?

The USA would be better today if it remained a federative polity, rather than the corrupt, unchecked federal behemoth it is today. Many of the South's leaders were fighting to check the federal government's power. They believed that slavery was a moral evil. They wrote about these things at the time.

Many fly the Southern Cross to signify that they're against our corrupt, intrusive bullshit government which is oppressive at home and aggressive abroad.

Your proposal isn't exactly liberal.

One might consider it rather culturally (socially) conservative. Your idea would be hypocritical, outlawing the idea of itself.
