For the record I'm not playing at the moment but Lee can run a good infra and econ for a family.
Last time i tried to run one i got two sign ups, and i'm fairly sure one was a multi. So no Mafia anymore
Happy birthday ILP. Hope you have a good day piezor.
Seems to me that colo is about the only person that has adapted to this new morale system. Maybe you all should ask him for some lessons.
agree with above.. equal distance would be great.. i was 6 ticks away, going for the planet would be a waste of time as all the other active players where alot closer.
Being all in the same family doesn't solve it. that makes everyone portalled in the same system and would take the fun out of it i guess.
Everybody on a 3 tick range would be best IMO.5 planets per HS would make more different strategies possible and will bring the total NW up what is reachable in 1 round (building cost will reduce alot, i was on 1300% OB after 2 weeks)
Having more NW at your disposal brings the NW gap down which should give us more action throughout the round. Not sure if it's possible to have HS with 5 planets and the free system with only 1 planet.
Biggest problem with 5 planets per hs is we had 74 families but only 23 players. That means 51 systems with 4 extra planets each.
Something that's probably impossible but might make it highly interesting is doubling the size of the home planet. Then your overbuilt costs won't be as high and expo will be slowed down.
I built my fleet one tick too late. That is all.
Translation: you failed.
So initially I had enough resources and cash upcoming to jump Bombers and take the planet. Then light guns infra got shared and whilst I had been doing regular infra checks on him it felt wrong to continue that plan. Three days before that post I'd gone into full save and put all my res into cons.
So i did what any reasonable person would do. I demoed all my infra to increase my science bonuses, built 6k agents and started the DU's. After a while light guns couldn't afford to rebuild them and demoed his infra. I demoed all of my agents and built 2k Bombers and some more fleet still with left overs from two days earlier since i had no infra.
Send the fleet and wipe light guns off the map. I then resent the fleet after someone had expoed and watched it change hands about 4 times. I attacked the planet when tymo had it without doing a pi because I'd demoed all my agents, luckily i had enough Bombers, unluckily i was only just short on ground. Another couple of hundred ground and it would have been mine.
So i sent the fleet again. By the time i got there this time tymo had lots of lasers and i lost my fleet, with it my chances of attacking again. So i said Congrats, demoed my last 1600 Bombers and tried to restart a little infra for nw (shouldn't have demoed the fleet that close to eor, should have kept it for nw)
All in all a good round, was interesting throughout.
Guy incognito.
I had a lot of fun. I had to do some rather nasty things to my infra to take the planet from light guns.
Increase the starting resources. It was a very slow start. Make all players equally distant from the exploitable planet.
... share information, etc., is not allowed.
You shared the results of an op. That falls within the definition of IA. I'm not arguing the point with you. I'm not a mod. The mods have told you what you did wrong, pull your head out and move on.
Firstly, it was zarf that told you off for it. Secondly, read this thread. First post spells it out in black and white . I'll accept your apologies whenever you're ready.
Who has their expos ready?
Update? What's happening? Had anyone acted on the Intel?
Whether to make a kamikaze run or not. Decisions decisions.
My prediction, Zarf to jump fleet and own the planet
I've already pnapped every family but for 1. Just gotta wait for them to get the planet and kablammy!
It's basically a perpetual all on one
No. One person wins size with 2 planets. It's actually a very elegant solution, I like it. I seriously hope it wasn't just an April fools joke...

You expect people to act "honorably". But what we, as a community, have done is to change the word honor to mean an imaginary set of rules. And then, when other players don't follow the imaginary set of rules, you get upset.
I can only speak for myself. But I will not follow an imaginary set of rules. It's not because I need to win. It's because I don't believe a game can be run that way.
Write the rules down, and I'll agree to follow them. Show me the rules. As an example, where in the rules does it talk about farming, and where does it define farming as 15 %. That rule doesn't exist.
Show me rules, and I'll follow them.
But when your talking about imaginary rules, then your just a cry baby.
The above attitude is a literal example of the biggest reason IC is in pieces, so I appreciate the example.
In it's prime IC was game governed by a community that operated under a set of honor principles that equated to "dude, don't be an asshole". If you were a top family competing ftw and you farmed a defenseless family too hard, it was understood that every other family in contention would destroy you. This wasn't an IA, there was no discussion, it just happened. The gradual decline in the community required some moderator action, like implementing ingame NAPS (worst decision ever made for the game imo), removing the delete option to prevent illegal drafting, or the new morale system that was developed specifically because players in large families were farming new players to the point of deletion every round (which is great for player count btw).
IC grew as a community lead game. Used to be you came into IRC or the forums and it was like Cheers. Everyone knows everybody and if you were knew you received a warm welcome apart from the required trolling by ilu or TU. Now it's like Mos Eisley, you walk in and just hope you walk out without getting stabbed in the back.
/end back in my day rant
This! This is the reason so many have left. People acted like assholes, enough people left that the old ways wouldn't work anymore for correcting the behaviour. It gets to the point where moderator input is required to stem the flow, and then people find ways to abuse the system for their own gain. More leave and we move further and further away from a self governing system that used to work because of the tight knit community. NAPs should be considered IA's, remove them all together. Work on the basic principle, "Would I consider myself an asshole if I was on the recieving end of this?"
If the answer is yes and you do it anyways then clearly you are part of the problem. I cannot be more on Undeath's side on this, it's part of the reason I left modding - because the community I wanted to help through modding doesn't exist anymore, it's filled with people that are selfish assholes with the occasional person that tries to do the right thing and gets crapped on.
Because she went to Oz before she visited Kansas!
Touche.
Been there done that. How did aussies meet her before you?
I was mainly looking for the threads for Obama having no chance of getting the presidency then no chance of keeping it but they must be the old forums.
Here's an interesting one: http://imperialconflict.com/forum/viewt … ?id=166359
See the part where I'm not a mod these days? Just a passer by commenting.
Remove all programmed naps from the game.
Godwin's Law!
That's my line.
