hehe, it's just your idea, but we did it for teams, instead of SS empires.
We had heats, which started of with I believe 2 x 8 teams of 8 ppl. Then refined to 2 x 4, then 2 x 2 for a winner of sorts.
I was only kiddin, cos Render came up with an ICPG variation for PW recently, and now you've come up with an ICC variation
Both are awesome formats!
In fact, this Forum was originally created to have those threads in here. I wonder where those threads went....
Hehe yes, that's the exact conclusion I came to while talking to Stan yesterday.
It seems like a simple way to do it. That way probabilty in absolutely value has stayed the same for Event 2 and 3, and their relative probability has adjusted automatically.
So something like:
Event 1 = [0 to Event 1 Modified Range]
Event 2 = [Event 1 Modified Range to (Event 1 Modified Range + Event 2 Range)]
Event 3 = [New Event 2 Range to (New Event 2 Range + Event 3 Range)]
And then random number is generated between 0 and sum of all Event maxes.

Why would they go after each other, when it's more profitable to just explore and infra.
There can only be one fam as a winner, so it doesn't stand to reason that each of those fams will 'let' the other fam just win.
The problem is, too many planets availabe for easy exploration and whatnot. No reason to fight, as its more of a case of gaining more through explore + infra, and hoping someone else hits your enemies. That's enough to get you a win.
We need less systems and less distances. Will help to incite more conflict.
Edit: "Infra" could also be networth in fleet, so consider that too.
it is absurd, why dont just set 1000% inkome 1000% military 500% speed, etz..? if we gonna say all play by the same numbers then at least try something new
Sure, this isn't a bad idea. But you have to limit it and not be ridiculous. Cos everything is relational. Easier to just give max of everything first, that's already something new.
I mean, you have to consider stuff like attack bonus doesn't affect defense. So I could attack with like 1 Fighter and Max hit your figs. Like I said, you have to consider all factors.
Why don't you give me your fam number. I do not need seven days.

On the one hand you want feedback. Then on the other hand you don't want to people to give their opinion? It's not my fault you give so much value to whatever I have to say, Render. That's on you. Not everyone has to agree with everything you say.
I asked why you can't run 16 galaxies at once, cos it 'is' possible (and in reality it won't be 16, cos we won't have 128 players in this).
Then I said it was like ICC, cos it is 'exactly' like it. Except in ICC we had teams. This is just SS play, that's the difference.

as for setting everything to 0%, how long do you want the round to last? with 0% speed and 0% income it will take weeks (RL ones) to do anything.
Correct, the races may as well be -30%. But we can afford to give everyone the max - so they can have healthy income, science, attack - give them the full complement.
To add to the point, how people play will also come into factor, in terms of ...does someoen build cf/rcs? ...does someone incorproate TOs into their build....how much fleet composition to have, etc.
Yea, but what they're saying is that in an hc round - all is game anyway. Hitting smaller players is allowed. Anything goes.
Having said that, i don't like the idea. For me, it's tactical to choose targets that you may or may not keep the infra on. That's part of the strategy involved, imo.

So technically the factor that effects the increased probability of Event 1, only effects that Event, and then the probability of Event 2 and 3 adjust accordingly.
So ....need some help with a thing at work.
What I'm trying to do, is have a specific event or variable, affect the probability of a result set. Anyone know a good way to do this?
So, e.g:
Probability of Event 1 = 50%
Probability of Event 2 = 30%
Probability of Event 3 = 20%
Now in practical terms, what I do currently is generate a random number from 1 (min) to 1000 (max). So I define the range of:
Event 1 = 1 - 500
Event 2 = 501 - 800
Event 3 = 801 - 1000
(obviously based on the percentages above).
That's all the easy part above (or am i doing it a complicated way?) to just generate the random event.
Now, what I want to do, is have a factor, that says, increase the probability of Event 1 happening (say to 60%). So now my result array, if i previously define to be
[1,500,800,1000] i want to be something like
[1,600,x,1000]
Question is, how shall I effect what x changes to accordingly? Or rephrase to be simpler, How do I make the probability of Event 2 and Event 3 to adjust?
I haven't quite figured out how to change the probability of Event 1 either (e.g. is it just a straight up 10%, or will it be a percentage of 50% or what exactly)....

The point is to normalise the races, Render.
Lets have a galaxy (next Orion?) where all players have a race as following:
Income 50%
Research 50%
Attack 50%
Speed 100%
Magic 50%
Population 0% (so it doesn't show up in the race
)
Ops
All (except Octarine Hurricane)
Specials
Droid
Tax Offices
Galaxy would be 1 man fams, non hardcore and with no market.
Reasons
Lets let people bank and attack to their full capacity. How they choose to play (ie their playstyle, banker/attacker/defensive/aggressive/mixed/etc) can be achieved with the race and how they research is also their choice. This way players all start out equal and what you really test out is skill in terms of tactics, decision making, position, diplomacy and yea, activity.
Also, I should add, that this is a spinoff off ICC ![]()

After playing SS in Tri (and randomly in Orion), I am more convinced that this is the way IC should go. It's more fun and like I've been saying, its important to make players responsible for their own empires.
I'd even consider have this as mainline and then having the special galaxy as Fam play for specialised roles and coordinated fams (ie, the current Pw/MW/Tri style of play).
And I know u cant run 16 Galaxies at once
