Topic: Tournament Mode

~Round 1~
128 Players, 16 galaxies, 8 Players per Galaxy.
Round lasts 2 Weeks, Top 2 Players In each Galaxy proceed to next Round.
~Round 2~
32 Players, 4 Galaxies, 8 Players Per Galaxy.
Round Lasts 2 Weeks, Top 2 Players in each Galaxy Proceed to Final Round.
~Round 3~
8 Players, 1 Galaxy.
Round Lasts 2 Weeks, Top 3 Players win special tag.
1st place - Ic's Best
2nd place - Ic's Second Best
3rd place - Best at Taking Part

Also Thor was suggesting having loser brackets too.
And I know u cant run 16 Galaxies at once
Also if loser brackets are added. round 2 would have 64 players, round 3 would have 32 players. round 4 would be added with 16 players and round 5 would be the final with 8 players.

Perhaps if this would take too long, the rounds could be a week long. or a week and a half depending on what everyone thinks.

16 galazys kannot be run at onze, but mods kan open 4 gals of 4 sektors eazh, and 8 players in eazh sektor, with the main rule that you kannot kross your sektor limits (any player ezploring or attaking in other sektor would be instantly removed).

^That's doable, but the main gals should be klosed to fokuse on this tournament, not a big problem tho, bkause its only 2 weeks and right now we've been without the main gals for more than 2 weeks (idling or in shitty gals like Tri).

In any kase, tell me what's the differenze between this idea and opening a gal for 128 players where the top3 win a spezial tag, appart from the time we'd save.
I mean, every IK round is a tournament itself, and your idea is a tournament of tournaments hmm

the main differences are:
1) there isn't a huge field where the top fams nap each other and farm the weaker.

2) someone could have a bad round and still win later (assuming double elimination)

3) someone getting lucky one round might not win since he would have to win 4 or 5 times.

My only concern with this is that there will be no fighting since 1-2 weeks will only be infra whoring...

given a good amount of initial stuff and ezplos, and playing 8 players in a small sektor, there will be a lot of fights.

a map 40*40
a sektor 20*20
from 30 to 50 systems in eazh sektor

do you still think people will infrawhore?

Small map and good starting stuff and expoes could make for some fast paced action....sounds cool

best option is to use sektors as rings of bozzing, whoever gets out of the ring loses the fight.
It will be faster, instead of opening 16 gals, thats krazy and not nezzesary

Tournament mode seems cool. Nice idea for people too get used to. We see who really shines soon enough..

Torqez I'm starting to get tired of your attitude respekt to other player's ideas, you tried to ruin my PW77 setup and now you somehow want to ruin this good idea. ICC was like ages ago and you are stuk in the past, so please, move on and let the new people try new things.

On the one hand you want feedback.  Then on the other hand you don't want to people to give their opinion?  It's not my fault you give so much value to whatever I have to say, Render.  That's on you.  Not everyone has to agree with everything you say.

I asked why you can't run 16 galaxies at once, cos it 'is' possible (and in reality it won't be 16, cos we won't have 128 players in this).
Then I said it was like ICC, cos it is 'exactly' like it.  Except in ICC we had teams.  This is just SS play, that's the difference.

You're not the only one with ideas.

hehe, it's just your idea, but we did it for teams, instead of SS empires.

We had heats, which started of with I believe 2 x 8 teams of 8 ppl.  Then refined to 2 x 4, then 2 x 2 for a winner of sorts. 

I was only kiddin, cos Render came up with an ICPG variation for PW recently, and now you've come up with an ICC variation tongue 

Both are awesome formats!

In fact, this Forum was originally created to have those threads in here.  I wonder where those threads went....

Lost in the last server migration, with the birthday kalendar and ideas forum,the last ideas page right now is from jan 2011 i guess sad   between other important stuff we still havent notized.
