Holy crap! How could you guess?
Mishe?
Nope!
And I'll guess Mishe again, because it seems to work. ![]()
Jack
(Explanation: Jack and Jill...)
Do you think I'm joking? Check my sig. ![]()
You sure that you want an active family? If not, I've got a spot open.
@xeno
Depending on how public the company is, I would buy that argument. Why? Because then the business becomes no different than a democratic government, except in the way that the organization wields its power.
Think about it. The government retains a monopoly on the use of force within the region it declares as its territory (for the most part. Let's not get into international relations issues). What separates a legitimate government from an illegitimate government, theoretically, is how much the government respects the people within its sphere of influence. That's the idea that derived democracy: through increased public participation, the government authority would become accountable to the people within its sphere of influence by distributing the power to them.
Now, bring that to a publicly traded company. Each share of stock is also a vote in the company's affairs, indirectly (just as buying a product is an approval of a business, buying stock is the same thing) as well as directly in some cases (common stock gives stockholders the right to vote in business affairs). So if a company is publicly traded, it distributes its power to the public. As long as at least 51% of common stock is released to the public, the public has the authority to influence the business activities, meaning it works.
NOTE: I'm not standing by this. I'm proposing a theoretical argument here, because presenting theoretical arguments is fun. Consider it a hypothesis testing scenario. ![]()
Are you sure that you want to do well? If not, I'm interested. ![]()
All these ICC draft threads pop up! I'm a trendsetter! ![]()
It's called accounting fraud. Stefan is actually juggling the numbers because the irregularities are really a tax for the benefit of being able to exist in Stefan's universe. Meanwhile, he's using all your funds to construct an underground military base inside the moon, called the "Death Star," from which he can eventually destroy the Earth, and travel beyond our own solar system.
A couple other notes:
1: No, this isn't a joke. I tried to do this last year, but it got messed up due to some communication issues with the draftees.
2: Some of these roles are up for change. If you have a suggestion, propose your suggested role and I'll consider it.
3: There are two primary traits which I'm looking for in potential draftees:
A: Unabated loyalty to myself as leader. (Yes, I recognize the contradiction. That contradiction is your problem to figure out, not mine.)
B: Looking to have fun and get along with everyone. (yes, I recognize the contradiction. That's your problem to figure out, not mine.)
4: No, if you come in here and say "_____ would fit perfectly in this family," I will not consider it as anything more than someone being an idiot. ![]()
I talked with Evilsheep about it, and he ended up closing it. It was all a misunderstanding, in large part. Thanks, mods!
Now I just need to figure out how to tell Justinian that he can come back to the forums. ![]()
Tired of reaching for the stars, only to realize that they're too high, and you would burn your hand off if you even got remotely close to them? Then come down to Earth!
For the next ICC, I'm drafting a family of players with one goal: To horribly lose the game, and have fun on the way down.
I'm looking for the following roles for the start:
1: Hardcore wizzie opper to go rogue on the family later into the round
2: A pacifist Camaar
3: An attacker who will take the position as my second in command. Will constantly work to undermine my authority
4: An LQ banker who believes wizards are pagan, and therefore refuses to give rise to any beliefs in contradiction to the Lord
5: A CF banker trying desperately to make up for the losses caused by everyone else
6: The Crucible: A player (preferrably banker) who will spend the round arousing suspicions that our family is filled with spies, because every other family in the galaxy definitely thinks we're the biggest competition
7: The hoarder. Will accumulate resources from the family without giving much in return, and will brag about how awesome he is doing in the family.
If you're interested in joining, please give me the following information:
1: What role you want.
2: Why you want to lose the ICC 2.
3: Why you would fit the role you want.
4: Any other information that you think might be helpful.
Ditto, except replace the F word with "to hell with." ![]()
I'll refer you to Question's post above.
And this one isn't declared spam? At least mine had a point (highlighting that these threads were spam in the first place).
Nope!
Darkmatt?
You're one hell of a diplomat. ![]()
Want the job? (That ought to ensure that nobody assassinates me) ![]()
That's right! I've thrown my hat into the competition!
If elected, I plan to rid the world of all its problems. The first problem to remove is all idiotic people who think these "Vote ____ in 08" threads are actually worthy of being in the Politics forum, as opposed to being collectively tossed as spam.
That's right! My reign would be marked by a massive crusade against all who dare taint our Politics forum with their useless posts, crappy threads, and generally useless spam!

Assuming you buy that the elimination game is an accurate representation of an ideal, of course.
