I think the point is, although you're SS, you're still a part of the fam.  So in answer to your question - if your fam goes to war, that means you too.  If you start some shit, it affects your fam too.

Because IC success is based on your fam doing well.  Why do you think we have role specialisation?  Attackers often have low networth.  This is selfless.  They dont play for ranks.  Same with CF banking.  THere's no glory in individual networth for a CF banker, but they do it for the fam benefit.

Similarly, even as SS, you're a part of the fam.  So you're bound to how your leader plays.

Think you're being hard done by and it's unfair?  Well ya, it might be, but you're not without options:
- Become the leader, and prove you can do a better job for fam direction.  Even if you're SS.
- Join another fam and play with friends/like minded people (drafing exists)
- Find another fam, with a different leader.

Yes, we undertsand that your fam members have consequences on your fam progress.  But if family concept does not suit you, this is why Mods also provide SS galaxies, like Orion (and SD previously).  Those were hardcore versions, and now with Supernova, we've brought out non hardcore too.

In summary, you can play SS - it's never a problem.  But in a family, you're still bound to how they play and what they do.  And as such, it's in your interest to help them and they you.

If you want 'solely' independent play - well, now you have it with the SS galaxies.

Well, if Stefan didn't do that - noone would ever use it, and he wouldn't know what to improve.

Now though, a lot has been changed and added, based on feedback from the players.

If you remember, there's been a LOT of additions since the new map first came out - and this is solely credit to bringing it to the players and getting them to use it.  It's like a Beta roll out where players are giving their feedback.  Like you said, we havn't lost any functionality from the old map, given it's still provided.

Yea, he's talking about actions submitted to him via Forum PM.  I imagine he has a reason for doing it this way, this round.

Yep, sadly it's not there yet, for the new map.

For phone/ie/etc users, the old map is still clickable through HQ page.  Alternatively you can still use the sidebar, to navigate to specific systems and whatnot for now.

The new map is.....work in progress!

I don't see that as ic changes.  I see that as a result of smaller fams and a smaller place.

I don't like smaller fams.  I mean, you have a small fam of say 5 players.  Someone cancels a NAP on you, and your 1-2 attackers can't be online - so you auto lose.  Now "that's" absurd, imo.

Trouble is, you can't make bigger fams, cos that means less families to fight and war.  Trust me, it's a tough balance to meet -_- ...anyway, that's a bit off topic, but ...still kinda related!

If Fleetboss doesn't work, you can use the script Stan has provided:

No, on both occasions I played incognito.  I didn't post in the forums,  nor did I join chat.  I did however, communicate to my fam through ingame messages only.

Only in one of the fams, towards the end of the round, when we were totally up against it and were jumped by Stan's fam, did I disclose who I was, and rallied the troops to fight against a much stronger and bigger fam.  You can ask Forever, he was in the fam since the start and can attest.

Yay, town win!  Got there in the end, in this marathon event tongue

Well played josh at the end, for taking the remaining townies for a ride - almost got there.

Awesome job by rev to keep picking mob.

Thanks for hosting Gywn!

Not gonna touch anything that has to do with how aid is refreshed and whatnot.  Recently stefan and pie did a lot on that stuff, cos of the whole bugs we had and whatnot.  So yea, will just have to deal with that hitting HQ twice thing ...(even for Market updates).

Not ideal - but not something I want to go into just atm.

Do we really have to have "Imperial History" and "No Picture" on this page? or can you ditch the "Imperial History" line and maybe get some race pictures to choose from or get rid of the "No Picture" line also? just wondering... tongue

I was going to fix that Imperial History thing ...hmm ....still wanted it to show for people who wanted it shown.

Also ...the "No Picture" thing is just a placeholder, for if we ever bring race pics back!

no it doesn't, sheesh would I have posted it if it was? lol tongue

Actually, it sorta does.  Total for each individual unit tongue ...and we had a discussion recently, saying that there's not much point in having an overall count.  I mean, who cares if you overall count is 150k.  More interesting would be to know that you have 149k agents, and only 1k soldiers.

And if you "really" wanted to know for some reason, you could always check how much gc u lose due to "units" in the income section of the council!

So yea. ...it kinda does tongue

I think this is the Mods fault!

They've asked them the FMods to help with testing stuff and what not (incl Supernova), so Tag point awarding has been neglected!

Not forgotten however, and I've seen a few given out.  Just more need to be done so, like you said.  So yea, i'll poke everyone about it!

They've just been busy smile

In the past, I've preferred to teach my fam.  Those willing to work in the group, provide for synergies.  The rest,  are left to fend for themselves.

Cos no matter how efficient you are, without help, you cannot beat a pure attacker from an opposing fam - who is funded by bankers etc.

But as a team, even if disjointed, you can fight.

Anyway we digress - cos these are more strategy type scenarios.

Whenever I play SS, i've never been asked to go, cos I still contribute to the fam.  And playing under the leader, i still fight the wars we need to and abide by the NAPs and agreements made.

Again, restricting cores or clauses can never be policed.. If you limit the ones they can make through relations page, then people will just make em without it.

If you can diplo your way to victory, then you should be allowed to do so. However, there can only be one winner.

* Bump! *

I'm again looking for small functional/aesthetic ideas that are "nice to haves".

I'll admit, they're not going to be game breaking, nor mechanically change the game.  Nor is their aim to "save the game" and increase player count.

BUT ...I do think they make small nice little changes, and ease for our own game play ...and I'll be implementing them, depending on time and ease.  So please, if you have any ideas, feel free to post!  I can't think them all up on my own tongue

Don't get me wrong.  When I reply, I'm not giving answers eitehr.  I don't know what's necessarily right, and just cos I wear the Dev tag, please don't assume I do eitehr.  More than anything, I'm just a player too!

So yea, open for ideas by others too, or something that works.

PS:  When I wasn't a mod or a dev, they tried Camaar with PI as well.  But to give them this, they reduced speed to 150% - which imo was extremely bad.  Luckily they reverted this change!  Speed for Camaar is a real differentiator!  I'm a big lover of Camaar!

I've played SS for a couple rounds now.  And I still help my family a tonne.  My family just doesn't restrict my growth, and I build when and as I need.

But if someone needs aid, I send it to em, and vice versa.  And similarly in a time of war, or urgent need, we all pool resources and help out.

Just cos you're SS, imo, shouldn't mean that you should just be isolated from everything that goes on.
