Obama didn't spend that money trying to fix our economy. He spent it making his party and their special interests happy. Nobody with an education is claiming that the majority (or anything but a small fraction) of the money is actually being spent on improving the current economic slowdown.

I don't support US action in most places abroad. But that doesn't mean anything of Obama's passing failed socialist policies.

Buying the products of slave labor does not give the slaves a better shot at freedom. I do not dispute that there is some merit to your claims. But I do not believe that betting on the ineptitude of the Cuban government is an ethical basis for buying the products of their human-rights-abusing country.

Let's keep it simple:

Children are evil. It is your patriotic and Godly duty to eat them.

I'm V.Kemp. I eat children.

>>What's more concerning is how did you end up in a situation that involves you holding a gun to protect yourself?<<

That's right. The victims of robberies, muggings, rapes, and home invasions are in fact CRIMINALS whose actions are suspect! BLAME THE VICTIMS! Brilliant strategy. Your reason is irrefutable!

of course, the sims creeps me out. I just remember how into it boring people I knew got. I couldn't figure how boring people could get so into a game where they watch boring simulated characters do boring things... I guess they embrace the boring.

>>So how can it be guaranteed that someone armed would had been closer to stop him sooner?<<

Nobody is asking for a guarantee. There is no guarantee. There is the freedom to defend oneself and others and stop the maniac without waiting for the police to stop him after 10 victims (which is acclaimed as a fast response), or there is the lack of freedom to defend oneself and others.

And then DPS came in with his fairytale land insights on what he presumes is the case, regardless of the facts and statistics which show he's dead wrong. Thanks kids!

Every time I get hypnotized (I don't think I've been hypnotized in more than half a decade, even pop banking bwahaha) I retaliate by killing 30% of the people at my local [no need to be specific, this kind of psychosis is disturbing]!

I did not concede the "increase the probability" argument. Because it's a matter of theory dependent upon many particulars over which Cuba has sole control, I do not presume that the Cuban authorities will make the mistakes which would allow free trade changes to threaten their power as you do.

I would rather not encourage slavery with my money (including federal money) on a matter of principle than engage in the immoral act of encouraging slavery by purchasing the products produced by slaves from their masters, regardless of whatever probabilities you figure might be the outcome.

No, my questioning why no one was armed to stop it sooner does not imply (that's the word you were looking for) that I want a police state or everyone to be armed. It explicitly asked why no one was armed and stopped this maniac sooner. I said what I meant. You started talking about police states without responding to my question.

>>In a society where EVERYONE is carrying a gun around self justice will occur more and more often.<<

So it baffles you that towns in which most of the populace are armed that many haven't had a murder in decades?

>>Its the polices job to prevent crime and violence should be a privelege the police has.<<

The courts of the USA disagree with you. The police are not obligated to protect any individual, even given notification that a crime is being committed. It is NOT the job or obligation of the police to protect you. If only the police were granted the "privelege" of using violence to protect anyone and no one had the right to protect themselves in the USA, the crime statistics for the USA would probably more than double like those of AU and UK.

>>I do not think weapons in general can solve the problem of more and more people being out of their minds.<<

Great argument. Nobody is claiming that firearms are a solution to a problem of psychosis in a population. But you are arguing that nobody ought to have the right to defend themselves from people who are out of thier minds.

...What are you talking about? "freedom not to have police or army standing around at every corner"? What are you talking about? You're comparing the USA to a police state where police are at every corner? Are you proposing that as a more reasonable alternative? What is your point?

"freedom to go outside without everyone around you being armed and willing to do self justice"? What is that? How is anyone more free because they're not free to defend themself? What kind of connection are you trying to claim exists between having the freedom to defend oneself and being "willing to do self justice"? Are you proposing that shooting a maniac engaged in a shooting spree in order to stop them from killing more people would be immoral? That's the best I can guess from what you said. Again I ask, what are you talking about?

You obviously do not speak english well, Schniepel. I can't even tell what you meant to say. Add to that that what you meant to say was probably nonsensical and we've got complete incoherence in your post! You're wrong on your proposed required order as well.

I still do not support buying the products of slave labor. I avoid buying anything made in China when I can avoid it. I would do the same for Cuban products. The bottom line is it is on the people of their country to make any changes they see fit. It is not my place nor the place of my government to change their government. It is, however, my moral obligation not to encourage the practice of slavery with my money.

It's a matter of principle. I suppose you are right. We do not have principles anymore.

Not understanding what a passing lane is is a crime by no means limited to seniors. People your age are too dumb to use it correctly too! I bet half of this forum is guilty! No, wait... my guess is half of this forum is too young to drive. tongue

I'm watching the news and they're covering the Alabama shooting now. They "credit" law enforcement with stopping the shooting from going on longer and hurting more people. Why wasn't anyone armed to stop it sooner?

You can call me whatever names you want, Dirty Iluvatar. You're obviously a child. You don't respond to content because you don't have any content. Cry more like anyone cares.

Violent and gay!

That's exactly it. We should be more isolationist than to make Cuba's elite rich by buying products their slaves made for them. Whenever the entire nation has had enough of their slave masters to kill them or otherwise remove them from their slave-owner position, we should rethink our position then. Until then, let them do their thing. Without us. We should not be encouraging the bastards. That is a crime against humanity and human rights.

Unions have done a lot of good in many industries. They're becoming more problematic today than anything, with union leadership being its own interest. Unions now fight for union interests, not the interests of those they used to represent.

They redistribute the wealth from the workers to the union leaders, Iluvatar. Go to school.

I did not even address your juvenile incest comment. I'm not on your level and I'm not lowering myself to it. I can understand how it makes you angry that the facts do not support your position. But that's not the healthy response to holding a position not based in reality. Perhaps you should reevaluate your position rather than posting random insults toward a stranger on a forum?

I used to enjoy very competitive combat games with great graphics and massive team strategy. Sure I enjoyed blowing multiple players into pieces with a mortar cannon. I did it while giving cover for teammates to capture the enemy flag and demolish the enemy team's assets. It's was a thrilling challenge coupled with awesome graphics and great community.

It was a cooperative and competitive game composed of great physics and graphics. It didn't make me violent when I saw a movie or hung out with friends later. The problem is not games. It never was and never will be, no matter how violent any of them get. The violent dysfunctional children are obviously drawn more to the more violent games when making their selection. The games don't cause it.

This is just a distraction from the problem. It's much easier and gathers more support to blame every violent dysfunctional child's problems on a video game than to address the real problems. It's a bad PR move. And buying into it only ignores the real problems and encourages the worsening status quo, making them worse.

To put it bluntly, not only is it wrong, it's irresponsible.

I love how we're moving AWAY from concern for human rights under Obama. Watch where Clinton goes and what she says about the most outrageous enemies of human rights and you see where the real priorities lie.

I'm glad you enjoy posting nonsense in response, Iluvatar. It's comforting to see an admission of ignorance rather than continued posting of complete garbage with no basis in reality. You post how you feel. You post how you feel the facts should fit together. You post how you feel the world should be. You post what you would like to pretend the facts are to best work in the world as you pretend it should be. Like Schniepel's last posts about "guts," ignoring the reality and facts of the situation in favor of what he reasons OUGHT to be the facts and reality.

I respect anyone who posts honestly and clearly. I respect many who disagree with me because they state clearly where they stand and what has led them to hold the positions that they hold. But posting how you feel things should be and statistics which do NOT support one's claims is just dishonest and juvenile. "Gun deaths went down after X regulation!" without mention of "violent crime more than doubled during the same period!" is not scholarship nor analysis; it's bad PR. So regulating guns has an impact on how often they are used in crime. Does it reduce crime? Does it reduce murder? These are the real questions. If you manage to reduce crimes in which guns are an instrument of murder while increasing crimes and crimes which involve other instruments used for murder you haven't accomplished anything but the opposite of your claimed intention. The enemy isn't "gun crime" and "gun murder," it's CRIME and MURDER.
