Good luck!

I almost feel like the IC community has been the subject of a five year long practical joke.  What's next?  Deci is actually Obama?  Primo actually is gay?  Stefan will release a free, fully 3D animated version of IC in stores?

You know what would be freaking awesome when you're trying to say your source is better than mine?  A link that actually tells the population growth rate.  The only percentage I actually saw there is the percentage of world population.  smile

You wish, US and UK have the worst rates amongst 1st world countries for sexually transmitted diseases, teenage pregnancy, uncontrolled population growth.

Wow.  You actually said that?

1: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_population_growth_rate
United Kingdom     0.42

This is the higher of the two estimates.  Now take 60 million and multiply it by 1.0042 31 times.  I got 68,324,738.  That's nowhere near your number.

Even if you dispute these percentages, I have a 1% population growth check (double the number on the statistics I provided).  The total population in 2040 according to that?  80,870,934.  Yes, a 33% jump.  However, the economy is also growing with that, providing resources for those people.  And this is still nowhere near 150 million.  In fact, at 1% growth, it took 91 years for the population to grow to 150 million.

2: Frankly, your comparison is crap.  The original post was talking about overall overpopulation levels globally.  When we indict that question, you shifted the discussion to a comparison of US and the UK vs other developed nations.  Why aren't you including developing nations?  They're part of the population issue.

> Justinian I wrote:

The population of most third world countries makes up for about 0.001% of the total world population.

Now this is the biggest joke statement ever.
Taken literally, with 6 billion people on the planet, he is saying there are no more than 60,000 people in third world countries.  Seriously?  tongue

But even setting that aside, your definition of "third world" is probably skewed here too.  For example, I'm going to preempt you: China isn't a developed nation, at least not entirely.  While there are significant signs of progress, most of that progress is concentrated near the ocean coast, leaving the rural areas (which is a huge landmass) nearly neglected.

But even if you guys don't buy that, I'm going to give Fokker a challenge:
Give me a general idea of what countries you consider to be "developing."

It's a crappy plane, but it's a plane with a damn 88-millimeter cannon strapped to it.

Negative points for probably tearing itself apart whenever it shoots.  Positive points for badassness.

Also note the 88-millimeter cannons, one of Nazi Germany's most awesome weapons (could be mounted on tanks or aircraft, or could be used as an anti-tank weapon or as a flak cannon).

Oh, that...

I'm sorry about that, LP.  Shortly after that competition started, real life issues and an abruptly cut off internet meant I couldn't even log onto IC for a while...
