Omg I hate how I always do this and never learn my lesson. Today I was walking this chick to her car after class, and we were having a rather pleasant conversation. But then as we were about to part ways, she said "The day is finally over, I can't wait to go eat" and "I like Subway, so I'll probably go there." I said that I usually eat at home, totally missing the fact that she was probably inviting me to a dinner date. Now that I think about it, she seemed frustrated that I didn't pick it up.

Grrrrrr !

She was hot too.

Dragon,

You can't be an idiot for having a different view on morality. It's something that can't be tested by our intellectual faculties, and neither can "grown up" be in the context you gave it.

For example, I think it's just fine that Henry Kissinger was a ruthless prick. I'm a goal-orientated person. However, most people would find his actions morally objectionable, despite Kissinger's exceptional intellect.

Newb,

Which is why abortion needs to remain an option for mothers with an unwanted pregnancy.

Hey come on, economic descriptions are fun. Here's one. Did you know that a couple's bed can be divided in two? One side is called supply and the other demand smile.

Anyhow, I think abstinence is lame, and that we should be more sexually open and receptive. This means making practical decisions before engaging in sex with other people, and thus better sex education.

It's one thing to be a Liberal, and people who have seen my posts can infer that I have many non-conservative views. However, these people who are protesting are mostly poor Americans, with an underdeveloped intellect, who are spewing silly nonsense and causing disorder. They are spreading words like racism and oppression around while fully misrepresenting them. They are the non-intellectual, unwashed, and die-hard liberal camp of the "hip hop generation" who love to postulate entitlements and rights without any intellectual basis. I do not have a problem with liberals themselves, but it's the far left nutjobs (who are frequently from the lower-echelons of American society) and hip hop generation who infuriate me and create a feeling of elitism and a desire for anti-working class authoritarianism in America.

What you are seeing on my part is not anti-liberalism, it's classism. And middle class Americans (such as myself) frequently hate and segregate from various sections of the working class.

PS: Working class is defined as an annual household income of < $20,000 by working full time and if the person is over the age of 25. The nature of the work also tends to be in manual labor or the service industry, and frequently there is much supervision from management. There is a correlation between being a member of the working class and being a member of the hip hop generation. Not all working class people are bad. But the hip hop generation is full of nut jobs with a disposition to be far left. They value anti intellectualism, instant gratification, ignorance, and conspicuous stupidity. Then when they are stuck in the working class or are impoverished, they demand entitlements and more money from the middle class. And really, we're tired of them. We want them to stfu. If they're poor because they didn't seize opportunities to move up to the middle class, then it's there fault and we owe them nothing.

Have you been watching the coverage of the anarchists and other violent protesters?  breaking windows and slashing tires. crazy people.  i wonder how long it will take the police to break out the night sticks lord knows they deserve it>>

That would be awesome if they beat them up, if not hose them lol.

Given that there are Canadians in Manitoba who would love to drive down to Minnesota and tear me apart, I think it's best if I say nothing more than that. However, if we were ever to meetup, I could be there in an hour or two

Yes and no.  I don't believe there is any law in Canada against offering sex for money, however it is illegal to pay money for sex.  So it's ok to sell but if you buy you go to jail.

That's Sweden. In Canada it's legal as long as its not publicly advertised, among other conditions like no pimping.

This means that street and brothel prostitution are illegal, but call girl prostitution is legal. So would offering the transaction is private.

Military school is presently an option for parents who want to send their kids to school to learn. The idea is that they learn better from the regimented lifestyle from attending school and living there. We aren't sending them to war, lol. On second though, that might be a great idea. We can use them as diversions to be slaughtered.

LOL.

Now I'm definitely going to get laid there. Never mind being nice! And that should be easy since prostitution is legal in Canada, heh.

As for murders, that's bs. I bet Toronto has a higher percentage of murders.

On C-SPAN they were showing the protest. They gave speeches and they looked like a bunch of hip-hop generation idiots. Watching them only reinforced my elitism. I think the crowd should be dispersed by those professional officers, and we should start throwing members of the "hip hop generation" in to military school to shape them up.

Bloody savages!

Sure, no problem! It's not my problem who my daughters choose to engage in sexual activity with, and really I wouldn't care. Probably because the women in my family are sluts anyway.

> Zarf wrote:

Exactly!

BW,

I think it's great that young girls are having sex, that makes the lives of guys like me more fulfilling. Imagine a society where women forced men to wait until marriage, that would make life unfulfilling by causing a now abundant and cheap commodity to suddenly become scarce and very expensive - because due to government regulation the costs for sex would rise (a higher risk of pregnancy). Damn you for proposing that government regulate a market that makes everyone's lives better with a cheaper commodity!

> I was aiming more at proper medieval cities Justinian like Ghent, Bruges etc. wink They all started out as perfect democracies (Florence and Venice in fact too), but were changed into oligarchies in wich only a minority could vote.

Naw, the Venetian Republic started out with the Doge exercising autocratic power, and then becoming increasingly more Republican as the merchant class dwindled his power in the senate. It was not a democracy like ancient Athens, although the masses had a major council that enabled them to have some representation. Although later it became more oligarchic as the Doge's power further decreased and the council of ten was established.

In Florence, the anti-aristocratic movements in the 1300s lead to a merchant elite controlling the city from the get-go. The guilds always controlled the city, with the exception of some autocrats like the Medicis.

In the low countries like Ghent, the same thing was true. They were merchant cities (thanks to its wool industry) that were also controlled by the guilds and its merchant elite. The idea that they were democracies at any time is kind of silly. Why would such powerful merchants share power with pathetic peasants?

Soth,

Whoa, you live a little less than an hour away from me lol.

Fair enough with the Swedish population.

Yeah, we're kind of in the same shape as Illinois. Chicago is liberal, and the rest of the state is conservative heh. It totally is unfair.

Lol, old medieval democracies? I hope you don't mean cities like Florence or Venice. While they had a front as being "Republican," they weren't democratic and voting was restricted.

Have you paid for sex?

Soth,

Yeah, true. I rarely ever went to St.Paul, but I sure as hell met some people from Minneapolis. I drove down there awhile ago for a party, and the people were still creepy. There were also Obama signs everywhere. One building had 5 Obama signs on just one window, lol.

But hey, Minnesota has historically been highly influenced by its Swedish immigrant population. Our culture is also very similar to Scandinavia. Compared to the rest of the US, we are more cooperative and less sociable (it's ok to be an introvert here), and we're very hard working. That and we love our meatballs!

So where in MN do you live?

Newb,

Yeah, Winnipeg is in driving distance, lol. I might go there some day, just to spend spend spend on your cheap products and meet some women.

No. If that were true world history would be very different. All the nations of Europe, for example, would have secretly build a mega huge fleet that the British could never find as though they were going to hell if they didn't adhere to their empire-killing obligation.

Pffft, just because every other empire has doesn't mean ours will. Ours might last until the earth blows up.

An interesting idea for its precision, but the idea is not to consider ourselves a federation but a nation-state.

Russia is a democratic government in name, but in practice it's better described as a very small oligarchy (and Putin as the most powerful oligarch). We could also essentially say the same for the US.
