"im going to leave this thread.  if you think bars are a good place to meet a wife. then your a lost cause.  call me conservative and throw me in a church but alcohol and a healthy relationship don't mix."

where do these idiots come from? is there like a whole state where cousins "make sweet love to" cousins?

creationists isn't a term just for people who believe in the myths, but includes people such as Catholics who believe in a creator.

"On a similar note, I find it very amusing that Biblical creationists always assume /their/ creation tale is the correct one. There are many religions and cultures, both past and present, that have their own stories as to how our universe was made, how the Earth was formed, and how humans came to dominate the animal kingdom. Why do they assume that in the absence of a scientific explanation for creation, that the story in the Book of Genesis is the correct one, and not some other creation myth?"

while there are some creationists that believe in a specific story on how the earth was created, namely, the story in genesis; many creationists such as catholics, the largest sect of Christianity; dont believe in a specific story, and have no problem accepting current science's explanation for the creation of the universe and of life.

Why is it so hard to accept that we are here by chance?
I'll tell you why:

Because then we are not special, we are not chosen, and that fact, in their minds, makes their stance, their views, and themselves arrogant.

Do I think they're arrogant? No, I think they're afraid, afraid of the unkown, afraid of uncertainty, afraid of the possibility that their lives are half chance, and ultimately that even the outcomes of their choices are half chance.

lulz, next time dont contradict yourself, you say we're arrogant and then say we're not arrogant smile also, God doesnt remove uncertaintly; i think just about all if not all religions think that humans have free will.

why do people like fokker have such a hard time believing in a God? because they dont want the responsibility that entails when everything is important. they rather live without any pressure where if they screw up, its no big deal, theres no value to human life.

what about a person with a tube going to their stomach? they can live for years... and please provide a reputable organization that will back up your claim that the adverse affects of alcohol always counter any health benefit. and only some food is healthy for you; lots of it, such as Soft Drinks are horrible for you; i've heard doctors say that Soft Drinks is the worse thing you could possibly drink. and thers posetive affects of alcoholic drinks other then for health; alcoholic drinks make courtship easier and make it more likely for you to find a mate to marry and have children with; theres a reason bars are a common place to look for people of the opposite sex.

Food is a harmful substance; its made 64% of us overweight or Obese. alcoholic beverages can be very good for you when you have it in moderation.  Alcohol use is only a burden when its abused, just like food is only a burden when its abused. we dont need food to survive, we can get all of our nutrients through needle.

"binge eating is a problem no one doubts that however no one can doubt that alcohol causes more damage."

woah, woah, woah. we arent talking about binge eating, like we arent talking about binge drinking. we're talking about plain old eating just like we're talking about plain old drinking. and eating has caused 64% of Americans to become overweight or obese, 708,000 people hurt from accidents doesnt touch that. if you think our drinking is a bigger problem then our eating, you are in a very small minority my friend.

even if you still thinking drinking is worse. you cant claim its way worse. 64% of 301 million people is alot more then 708,000...

according to http://www.jointogether.org/news/research/summaries/2005/few-americans-diagnosed-as.html

researchers estimate 8% of Americans are dependent on alcohol.

according to http://usgovinfo.about.com/cs/healthmedical/a/hhsobesity.htm

64% of americans are overweight or obese.

clearly food is more easy to abuse.

"the analogy you gave, avo, is a poor one.  Alcohol is a mood and mind altering substance and because of that it is incredibly easily abused.  Also the fact that a vast number of people go to it as a fix to their problems is another ill effect of it."

food is a mood and mind altering substance. food is incredibly easy to abuse. a vast number of people go to it as a fix to their problems.

theres a difference between drinking and binge drinking, Soth. saying drinking is deplorable because some idiots binge it is like saying eating is deplorable because some people binge it.

aside from the great taste of many beers; drinking opens people up and allows more lively social interactions between individuals. and when drinking is done responsibly there is no ill effect.

yep, exactly why Justinian's University must be trash. even if he is a freshmen, he should have a big enough workload where he is doing 40+ hours of homework a week. if he isnt a freshmen, 70+

Avo,

Well, there are bars just across the street of campus that I love to go to particularly on Thursday, but there are a lot of parties at most Universities. Secondly, we did not learn about the Cuban Missile Crisis. The professor was curious and amusing herself if anyone knew, since studies show that Americans are ignorant of especially geography and political history. She asked the question and everyone had puzzled looks.

<<how do you know the amount of output Obama gets from a small input doesnt match or surpass yours?>>

God said so.

well, Universities differ in even larger degree then highschools. you have the best students of the best highschools going to the best universities and the worst students of the worst highschools going to the worst universities; so theres a greater distinction between universities then highschools.

Sure it counts.

The reason high school doesn't is because they vary so much in quality. My high school was better funded, had experienced teachers, and the students were generally much more competitive, involved in the community, and more mannered than elsewhere in the country.

I probably went to the same High School Soth did, so he can tell you about it.

In college, the environment demands much higher quality than most high schools lol. I go to college and boom I pass with flying colors, while most everyone else struggles. A professor asks what the Cuban Missile Crisis was, and I am the only one who knows. I write a history paper, and the professor commends me on my excellent use of logic and organization. You get the idea.

The reason I am so much smarter than Obama is because of the output I get for a pathetically small input.

universities vary very much in quality too.... and if all you're learning at university is what the cuban missle crisis was, i strongly advise you to stop paying tuition and go to a real university.

how do you know the amount of output Obama gets from a small input doesnt match or surpass yours?

yep. Justinian is definitely either going to a party school or one of those universities you go to before going to a real university, cant think of the name...

BC is a great example of stupidity. he calls it success when there is less space between the rich and the poor. you should strive for the improvement of all, not knock down the rich so they're closer to the poor.
