Topic: Time to Invade Mexico

Mexico is one of two nations listed as in danger of collapse. Sadly this is being pushed by the drug cartels and smugglers (humans and drugs)

Mexico is suffering as politicians who are not pawns of a cartel are getting gunned down. Many cities have no candidates running for mayor.

Mexico has, in short, lost its war with the cartels, and a Western Nations force needs to go in, restore law and order, defeat the cartels, and give Mexico back to its people.

I endorse this even knowing all Mexican illegal immigrants will instantly ask for political asylum. This is not how I would want that problem solved, but a nation of anarchy, murder, and drug cartels is far worse.

We must move with full speed, though politically it would give Obama 20 million voters who will feel obligated to vote for him. The cost otherwise is to high.

Everything bad in the economy is now Obama's fault. Every job lost, all the debt, all the lost retirement funds. All Obama. Are you happy now? We all get to blame Obama!

Re: Time to Invade Mexico

We should just let them destroy each other.  I mean we buy their drugs:/ Do we have any right to go fix their problem.  Do we need an enemy that close to our borders?  My vote is to continue to slowly secure the
border and make them fix their own problems.

Quack.

You have to actually prove that Mexico's government has the capability to fix its problems in this case.  If drug cartels and other destabilizing entities are overpowering the nation's legitimate forces, then there's 0 possibility of your method solving anything, and you're just turning a blind eye to violence.

Re: Time to Invade Mexico

Revolution will take it's course and they will fix their problems.  I doubt the goverment has the capability to fix it, too many fingers in that pie, so I'm guessing a civilian militia will uprise one day.  Until then... A Giant Wall!  And again; why would America kill her drug dealer?  That's bad for business.

Re: Time to Invade Mexico

I'm not turning a blindeye, I see it.  I just don't care.  They did this to themselves while the u.s government also chose to ignore these cartels growing in power.

Re: Time to Invade Mexico

One problem woth your theory.

Mexico disarmed its civilians.

No popular uprising can happen.

Outside assistance therefore is neccessary.

Black market?  Guns will always be available to anyone who wants one.  They just have to look hard enough.  All it takes is a pissed of excartel member with some connections and boo

Re: Time to Invade Mexico

Meanwhile tens, to hundreds of thousands will die, on our border no less.

There is even a chance of millions.

You do know the cartels have ordered whole towns to be left or they will kill anyone left inside, right?

Re: Time to Invade Mexico

I always like a good old war. The US should expand a little south, and this is a perfect excuse.

It is our manifest destiny to rule all of North/South America !

Offcurse not, let me ask you one thing, what you consider the positive and negative aspects of that invasion?

Re: Time to Invade Mexico

Remember, they admire a state ruled by cartels with no balance of power. They wish they held that type of power here.

Re: Time to Invade Mexico

The positive is the lives saved.

The negative is the cost of body bags for the cartel thugs

Re: Time to Invade Mexico

While i'm not opposed to the notion of the US annexing all of N/S America -- I am opposed to more needless spending for what? I still advocate building a large wall, roughly 15 stories tall, with automated turrets stationed every 50 yards equipped with motion detectors that will make swiss cheese out of anything that moves.

Personally i don't want to share my country with anyone, and i fought for my right to give the middle finger to everyone else. tongue

That is a very shortsighted view of things.

Negative: legal and illegal immigrants deciding to help their fellow Mexican brethren from behind enemy lines.  The damage they could cause is catastrophic.  More negative: where would the money come
from mr. Republican?  There is already tons of money being poured into a war that is failing, why make it happen again.  More more negative:  where would all those drugs go?  They wouldn't just stop being distributed.  The druglords will make their money one way or another.

Positive: Einstein would be happy.

Re: Time to Invade Mexico

"That is a very shortsighted view of things."

Indid it is.

There is a different way to destroy the cartels, simply demolish there source of income. Instead of investing your resources in a war, where you will not solve the real problem, since the demand for narcotics in the USA will continued, you could try to invest that some resources on your people, preventing them from usings drugs. Instead of killing you will be saving human lives.

If you make to difficult for the cartels to be in Mexico they you just find away to avoid you.

Why do you think that it is better to destroy them by force than just destroy the reason for there existence?

Also, by stoping the bigger supplier of drugs to the USA, you will increase the price of those drugs.  Therefore crime that is realted to drugs will also increase.

Re: Time to Invade Mexico

Einstein for once i must say i agree with the guy wink

But it would be risky. But i feel in this case it needs to be done. Throw them damn cartels to the wolves
