Maybe it's a figure of speech; because the ships have AI advanced enough to have a personality they feel protective of their crew?

Re: Space: Sign Ups and OOC, Version 2.0

I was thinking a dreamweaver was in their fleet assisting Jeodan... Remember, she was talking to him even after the others departed.. ever wonder how/why?

I was trying to figure out how to keep a dreamweaver in Jeodans proximity, also, having already made contact, would make sense to assist the computer to reach just beyond it's capacity. (Ie a little nudge up the evolutionary tree.) That or the dreamweaver is now the one he's talking to, who is linked to the computer, and she is only providing the conduit.

For those who understand, no explanation is needed.

Re: Space: Sign Ups and OOC, Version 2.0

I was more of thinking that since the Cy'Tan are made into excistance it oculd have been possible that the wardancers made ships that were completly selfreliant to stage attacks. They might have used these ships as fodder but once the ships evolved by some fluke in how they were made they realized they needed physical bodies to help them conquer planets. The Cy'Tan was born.

Although Fokker's explanation is also a possibelety.

Re: Space: Sign Ups and OOC, Version 2.0

Sounds cool to me, one question - Are the Cy'tan stronger then the Wardancers or just smarter?

Re: Space: Sign Ups and OOC, Version 2.0

mentally the wardancers have them beat. But more I cant really say since we dont have much information about their physical strenght. But i think they have them beat. But on a more global scale. With ships they might win.

I'm going to take a second to explain how Cy'Tan ships are made: Alloid is used like with humans and others to make the basic structure, the hull and the main rooms are made from this special alloid. After the outer shell is made they bring in the orb of the ship. It is as big as a human but have much more mass and glows a beight white light. Once this thing is placed inside the center of the ship, it starts to spawn tentacles wich grow along the walls. Puncture certain places in walls and on the hull to go outside. Once this is complete the ship will make it's own corridors heading form each compartiment to the other. It will make sleeping quearters and many other things. this makes all ships unique

Re: Space: Sign Ups and OOC, Version 2.0

The Wardancers wanted to do in a lab what had happened in real life (by accident) to them, but better.
I think that once created the Wardancers tried to exterminate them utterly says something about how successful the experiment was; too much so.
But this was so long ago that it is almost mere legend to both races, so the truth of the matter is still open to debate.

There are more people on Earth than in the UEF? That's a little strange for an intergalactic empire to be less populace than a single planet don't you think?

Got finals today, and things will relax a bit for me to get back into posting in the space thread..

I've been following the posts the past 2 weeks, and I have a formula of what I want to do..

the garrus situation is one that will work well into the plans was already trying to lay down, so, that was refreshing frankly..

Way to miss the point! big_smile

>and not all planets can be super dense planets<

So what you are saying is that the entire UEF is made up of planets with low poulation.... the same UEF that apparently has ships numbering in the billions (It must if everyone has fleets numbeing in the millions) all of which seem to have serving crews of a million or more?

I know this is roleplay but could we try a little realism please? Or at least THINK about the numbers we've just pulled out of our asses? wink

"So, it's defeat for you, is it? Someday I must meet a similar fate..."

Re: Space: Sign Ups and OOC, Version 2.0

True, if the UEF has several thousand, even several hundred planets, each would multi-hundred million, or perhaps a billion, people. Esspecially since this is thousands of years into the future.

And when did I say that the Talus plan on keeping them, or letting them stay? smile

Re: Space: Sign Ups and OOC, Version 2.0

Let's set the record straight.

The UEF and the Talus Empire have no relations that would prompt mass migrations on the part of the Humans. In fact, the UEF and the Talus Empire are in two different universes, and the link between them, connecting the UEF capital world of Earth (not the one that's been destroyed - the UEF's Earth, which is very much intact) and the Alliance core world of Blacken Prime, is monopolized by the UEF Military Service and is open only to active military personnel, and in rare cases, their families.

The UEF's population sits around 190 to 200 billion. Earth is occupied by about 9 billion people. The UEF owns sixteen Prime Worlds with an average of 3 billion people per planet, for a total of about 50 billion people (accounting for rounding error). The UEF owns approximately 110 less important colonies with an average population of 1 billion each, for a total of about 120 billion. The UEF also owns about five hundred satellite colonies with small settlements typically less than 25 million in size; these account for a further 12 to 15 billion.

The Alliance's human population within easy reach of Blacken is somewhere around 3 million at most. Less than a million humans live on Blacken, with sparse colonies on the other Alliance-owned worlds. The UEF is claiming worlds in the Blacken universe for military purposes only and has no immediate plans to settle them.

We retconned any fleets in the millions out of existence in the rollback. The UEF's manufacturing capabilities, though formidable, can't turn out millions of ships each with crews of a million or more. The Colossus-class carriers are rarities - most ships will be staffed by less than a thousand, with automatons to fill in the gaps. A million people will not fit on a ship one kilometer or even five kilometers long, the size of a typical UEF battlecruiser.

In conclusion, as long as we are aware of all the numbers at play, everything should be reasonable.

Also, since there are no longer hundreds of millions of humans to move in response to the Talus Incident, that section of the post should be edited.
