Topic: Definition of Racism

I think of racism as attributing a behavior or ability to a person or group to a biological attribute specific to a human subspecies. This means that for something to be racist, it must imply that humans can be subdivided in to sub species, and these sub species have unique behaviors and abilities (like intelligence).

Of course, liberals seem to have a broader definition of racism. They scream racism whenever illegal aliens are arrested, when arabs are suspected as terrorists, or when a hip hop black guy is walking through an upper middle class neighborhood etc. So, liberals, tell me how you are defining racism, and how it isn't just libel and defamation to halt a legitimate argument?

Devil's Advocate: Remember, there's always the possibility of underlying racism.  This isn't the 1800's.  It's not really kosher to deliberately fire someone solely due to race.  Thus, if someone wanted to remove someone else from employment due to race, wouldn't it be more logical to fabricate a second story that manages to encompass a race?

Do people really care about race these days? I think Culture is the main factor now.

Underlying racism? So underneath someone believes that humans are divided in to sub species, but they keep to themselves and try to find a different reason to justify their actions?

But then, liberals are still sensitive because, often times, they can't tell what the person's actual beliefs are. Maybe their belief is reasonable for certain kinds of discrimination, not because of race but because certain 'races' are prone to certain behaviors due to culture and economic circumstances. It isn't racist to reason the following:

Illegal aliens tend to be from Mexico
Latinos tend to be Mexicans
__
Illegal aliens tend to be Mexicans

But noooo... Liberals scream that that reasoning is racism, effectively providing an obstacle to an efficient solution for illegal immigration.

I think modern abuse of the term racism is a real shame. While studies continually show instances of racism (what Zarf BeebleBrix references) showing up in some areas, a real problem that ought to be dealt with in every individual case, progress in addressing these real concerns is only watered down and even counteracted by misuse of the claim of racism. Now when I see racism in the news, it's usually something like Obama calling someone a racist for arresting a black man, because Obama's being racist and presuming [w/o knowing the facts] that the white man abused his power and mistreated the black man. People are only less likely to pay attention or care when the word "racism" doesn't refer only to reprehensible actions of men, but to anything that a racist (how ironic) wants to attack dishonestly.

Latinos are liberal Hispanics

yeah I know they don't SAY that, but look who's calling themselves "Latino" and what they're asking for as "Latinos".  Which is why the media likes to throw it around as a euphemism for "Hispanic"

Because Mexican or Hispanic or people of Spanish and Native-American descent weren't clear enough, we made up a new word to throw into the mix! Does somebody want to inform me of what differentiates "Latinos" from these other groups?

@ Kemp.  Obama called the arresting officer stupid.  He did not call the arresting officer racist.

Interesting timing.


There was news burning the Mexican flag was 'racist' recently.

A race, or a nation?

Since when is it free speech to burn an American flag and racist to burn a Mexican flag in protest of the policies ogf the nations?

I hate China, does this mean I am a racist?

I like to be selective about what race I am looking at when I drool over an ass of a woman. Is this racist?

I hate the klu klux klan and the black panthers, is this racist?

I hate what Obama is doing to our nation, is this racist?




Btw for the record I prefer Asians, Hispanics, Blacks, and Brunettes (assuming some demographic thinks brunettes are a seperate race from blondes and red heads)
