Re: Many firms declare layoffs and cutbacks

If people can't afford to pay for health care, the employers are to offer health care services.  My employer has done this since before I started working on my current job over a decade ago.  Granted the "costs" kept increasing every single year, which I really didn't understand.

"Why must we double spending on healthcare when we already spend more than any European nation?"

It needs a total overhaul, but apparently, Republicans are voting against every change on that end.

It's really simple. The noted economist W.C.Fields expressed it best nearly 100 years ago: "Never give a sucker an even break".

Your boss, or the government, is gonna pay the bill, right? Then they're a sap.  So jack the rates every year, just because, and let them worry how it gets paid for.

It does not need a total overhaul.  This is a federal republic where most TREATMENT is organized at the COUNTY LEVEL.  Even Obamacare has nothing to do with treatment-- it even makes it harder to open new hospitals-- and just goes on and on and on and on and on about who pays for it.  The waste involved in robbing Peter to pay Paul through the Federal Government is so vast that most industrialized nations' GDP would get lost in the abyss.

Re: Many firms declare layoffs and cutbacks

The county level isn't working.  We have people dieing in waiting rooms for even a doctor to look at them.

Re: Many firms declare layoffs and cutbacks

Is that referring to that lady who died on the floor while staff mopped around her? She was known to be a hypochondriac, and cried wolf once too often at a bad hospital, and the nurses were fed up with her. While that shouldn't happen there's nothing Obama did to make it better. in fact, by shrinking the number of doctors it will make it worse.

If the hospitals can't pay staffs, what's the use of having a hospital?

Re: Many firms declare layoffs and cutbacks

hospitals tend to pay staff by charging more
