Topic: hallllp

i have a table containing total product, average fixed cost, average cost, total cost, and marginal cost. Some of the information is missing and I'm not sure how to find it.

on one example the tp is 10, afc 120, avc 100, mc 100, and tc is missing
then tp 20, afc missing, avc missing, tc 3000, mc 80
tp 30, afc 40, avc missing, tc 3900, mc missing
tp 40, afc missing, avc missing, tc missing, mc 130
tp 50, afc 24, avc 108, tc missing, mc missing

my ta is worthless and the book doesnt correlate with the info he gave us X(

Look for patterns. Ask Dyt. Google for existing solution to problem.

Re: hallllp

all those terms are in wikipedia with graphs

me, I fall back on my "Schindler's List" parable -- it don't matter that you don't know engineering, if you got the drop on the engineers

ps yea I dunno if this is engineering but it looks full of math and graphs and derivatives...insert hard science to match

It looks more like accounting.

Re: hallllp

If I understood the context a little more. Is there a category which includes profits? One which includes losses?

I dunno what marginal cost versus cost is,... I see no attackable pattern without further knowledge

Everything bad in the economy is now Obama's fault. Every job lost, all the debt, all the lost retirement funds. All Obama. Are you happy now? We all get to blame Obama!

Should answer all questions and workings out as long as you stick to the formulae. Hopefully it helps.

first line is impossible because the average cost can never be lower than the average fixed cost because ac is composed of the afc plus the mc (well actualy it can but then mc would have to be negative which would be silly)
second line is afc 70 and ac 150 because tc/tp=ac and ac-mc=afc
third line is ac 130, mc 90
fourth line dunno
fifth line tc 5400 (ac*tp=tc) mc 84

Re: hallllp

the marginal cost would be how much it'd cost you to produce one more of the product, if i remember my accounting classes correctly.

Re: hallllp

on one example the tp is 10, afc 120, avc 100, mc 100, and tc is missing --- if tp is 10, avc is 100, wouldn't tc be 1000? tp *avc=tc, i'd say
then tp 20, afc missing, avc missing, tc 3000, mc 80, --- i think afc = (tc - mc*tp)/tp = 70, avc = tc/tp= 150
tp 30, afc 40, avc missing, tc 3900, mc missing, --- avc = tc/tp=130, mc = tc-(afc*tp)=2700/tp=90
tp 40, afc missing, avc missing, tc missing, mc 130 <= seems like some numbers are missing here...
tp 50, afc 24, avc 108, tc missing, mc missing --- tc =tp*avc= 5400, mc = tc-(afc*tp) = 5400-(24*50)=4200/tp =84

that's all the time i have right now. note that in all this i assume there's plenty of production capacity and whatnot, otherwise that'd also have to be in mc...
