Topic: Water on the Moon

There are way too many Einstein threads. I want to talk about NASA finding water on the Moon. I think that's fantastic. How about you?

For those who haven't heard by now, you are living under a rock. Obviously, not a Moon rock! Get it?! Ha ha.

Re: Water on the Moon

Yes well there is a good deal of water on the moon, but Obama canceled all efforts that would get us there. "We need private contractors" which is code for "I am going to gut the program, take all the money for Social Projects, and paintings of me"

Everything bad in the economy is now Obama's fault. Every job lost, all the debt, all the lost retirement funds. All Obama. Are you happy now? We all get to blame Obama!

Re: Water on the Moon

I'm a strong supporter of NASA but I also believe it's time to let private companies take charge in manned space flight. NASA is fine in supporting R&D budgets for new vehicles and support craft. But let private companies handle the service side of things. From sending supplies to the ISS to expeditions to the lunar surface. I see it this way. The Air force doesn't build it's own jets. It has defense contracts with private companies that design and build the aircraft that the Air force needs that meet their requirements. Why can't we do the same thing with NASA? Let NASA provide the funds, and let private companies design and build spacecraft to meet those needs.

The Army doesn't drill it's own oil or process it's own fuel. Private companies do that, and they ship it as well, let NASA do the same. Lets chance the law and open up space to American businesses. Let private companies build their own space stations or go into Co-ops with universities. Can anyone say MIT Orbital Research Station? Lets take everything NASA has learned over the years and really make the push.

Re: Water on the Moon

rape the moon

The core joke of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is that of course no civilization would develop personal computers with instant remote database recovery, and then waste this technology to find good drinks.
Steve Jobs has ruined this joke.

Re: Water on the Moon

@ Lizon: Reminds me of the old saying: "Remember, your equipment is being made by the lowest bidder" or words to that effect.

Re: Water on the Moon

Chris_Balsz makes an excellent point. As Ian Malcolm said, "What you call [scientific] discovery, I call the rape of the natural world." Discuss how our exploration of the Moon is, at the same time, raping it.
