Topic: People opting to be donors get priority

Well today Israel said 'those opting to be organ donors will get priority in getting donated organs'


I applaud the ideal...


The only worries I have is that some places/people have let organ donors die with less total care so they could harvest the organs, and that this might lead to people needing organs to change their status only for the time to get the organ. In general however I agree with this new and novel approach.


What do you think?

I disagree with the approach. However, if there is a lack of organs then any system has its failures. If the scheme encourages an uplift in donors in the population that could lead to a surplus of available organs then the appoach could be deemed a success. But that doesn't make it ethically, morally, politically, or medically right.
