Topic: Toyota falsly accused!

Recently the Main Stream Media (MSM) reported a Prius that had run away needed a police car to slow it down by stopping in front of the Prius.

The driver claimed he tried to pull up the pedal, and failed, and that he was scared to try the ignition or to try to change to neutral (or a special engine brake setting which greatly reduces the speed).

It seems that some major testing has been going on.

With any brake pads at all, a technician was able to stop a Prius from run-away speeds Period.

Then people noticed the 'hands on the wheel' comment and tested how to reach a gas pedal... and found it cannot be done without squashing your head against the radio, totally making it impossible to see the road...

Further the police reported 'we did NOT make vehicle to vehicle contact'. The Prius stopped on it's own.

I would say anyone who does not turn the ignition off, or take the car and put it in neutral deserves their fate, though the people they choose to crash into do not. I also say this man was seeking 15 minutes of fame and Toyota needs to prosecute him LOUDLY for everything he has.

Further this is proof of MSM manipulations against Toyota and they need to have a GAG ORDER on them for their lies. Yes freedom of the press, but not freedom to blatantly lie!

Re: Toyota falsly accused!

did the guy say he tried to pull the pedal up with his hands? you can pull things with your feet....

also you know any person of any physic was not able to touch the pedal without squashing your head against the radio?

and if a technician can do it, it doesnt mean anyone shouldnt have a problem doing it.  i can do loads with a pc that many people cant...

also, i have yet to hear anyone accuse toyota of anything in the OP, so Toyota wasnt falsely accused of anything...

Re: Toyota falsly accused!

Puting your foot on the brake does cause signicant loss of speed also, even if there was a problem with acceleration.  You'd still be moving at speed, but not high speed.  Also with acceleration and the brakes in use, there is a % chance that the wheels would have locked up, causing an immediate stop.

So yah, i'd say the guy was either in a full state of panic or he was trying to get millions of dollars out of the car company.  The guy should be prosecuted.

Re: Toyota falsly accused!

Key the Prius has a system in which when you press the accelerator and the brakes at the same time the engine goes into neutral and the brakes are slowly applied. They tried to duplicate what happened and everything went as normal. They looked at the brakes and it showed that he did press the brakes about 300 times but softly, not hard like he insisted he did. I think the man is lieing trying to get money form Toyota.
