Question, Flint: Couldn't that data be just as easily be interpreted as saying:
89% of US temperature stations show temperature changes between 1 and 5 degrees Celsius
The IPCC data is biased to only show a .6 degree change
11% of information is biased in favor of little or no change to temperatures

Re: So sun spots don't mean jack, so say scientists

No that means... the temp stations are giving off incorrect information, which shows bad data, which has been used by NASA, IPCC, and so forth... to make bad estimates.

It's really sad about those weather stations. Some automated ones... right next to an AC machine... hell one was at the end of a short runway!!! It's scary the placement of the boxes. So much for good science, these are just insanely placed. And the scarier thing.... the good placed ones were 'removed from the network' and 'closed'. Only 11% of the current stations give 'uncontaminated' data. ONLY 11% ARE CORRECT USUALLY!!!

Apart from Franklin (Im a bit amazed at his case) the nature & physics scientists were inescapably stimulated by or developed their thinking in a uni environment. Organized scientific research in an academic environment will always prevail above loose cannons.

Not what Philip Kuhn taught.

Phyiscal notation, like music, describes concepts in a way that the written word can't easily do. So yeah if you never learn calculus you're never going anywhere in physics.

But Einstein ignored the mainstream view of physics for thought experiments about riding electrons.  And he didn't agree with Bohr or Heisenberg and thought there would be a proof to rebut their null-A existentialism; the idea that a particle has either velocity, or position, but not both, and the observer alters their state, was not taught at university until the loose cannons made it respectable.  As Kuhn says, the analomy explained becomes the new paradigm.

Re: So sun spots don't mean jack, so say scientists

There are a HUGE number of degreed scientists, but to be frank, scientific thought does not require the degree, the degree comes from the desire and ability to commit to science.

I cannot recall the list I had in 2000 of no degree type scientists and inventors. But what I can recall is that anyone who has sufficient skill can commit to scientific research, but most can understand certain applications of science.

I ask, since Algebra was the result of scientific research, should it mean that you cannot understand it? What about gravity, once explained, does this mean you cannot understand it without a degree? Do you need a white paper to comprehend a calender, which took a lot of astronomers a lot of effort to produce?

Maybe we should ask one of these computer tech kids where they got their degree in haxxoring and such? I mean, come on... your an adult, you realize my point, yet you seek to try to invalidate it because you disagree with the science without having looked at my side?

Hacking isn't a skill, it's a crime.  Using your COMPUTER learned skills to comit acts of sabatoge or theft online?  Well yah, hacking is a crime.

I like sunspots, they're fun to watch.

They're like cheesey poofs.  Very nifty to look at and even more fun to play with.  Sunspots are linked to geomagnetic bursts which does effect such things as solar flares.  They been teaching this since back in the 1950's?  And of course these solar effects do effect in wide ranging motion past our planet.

So what?  Global warming is sunspot related and therefor human impact is negligable in the arguement that we're really not screwing up the planet?

Which roller coaster ride did you fall off again?

2: Um... duh?  Yes, there's launch codes.  Those are given by the executive branch to instruct the people with the keys to launch a nuclear weapon.  What, you think they just call on the phone and say "could you launch a couple?"

Re: So sun spots don't mean jack, so say scientists

You could try that, using a reagan impression

"Silo Four, Major Cobb here."

"You and I have a rendevous with destiny. Upon ourselves lies the history of the world--whether mankind will cower forever in the darkness of tyranny--or stand tall in the light of liberty. But of course there is no choice at all. We can no more opt to destroy ourselves as a nation than we could each choose, to stop breathing. America will not falter. America will not fail. Each of us, aware of the great challenge ahead, cannot be restrained from our best efforts, and through our common resolve, the shackles will be burst, the barriers broken, until our great American achievement is once again, the wonder of the world."

"Missles launched, sir"

Bachelor of Engineering (Chemical and Materials) University of Auckland 2004
Post Graduate Diploma in Engineering (Chemical and Materials) University of Auckland 2005

Re: So sun spots don't mean jack, so say scientists

we were told that global temperatures were rising at a certain rate

because of this rate we knew that human emissions were the only possible culprit

now after 10 years we know that "hockey stick" rate of temperature growth was bogus; the hottest year in the last twenty years was not last year, it was 1998

but using circular logic, the AGW cabal says "Well since we know that process of temp increase due to AGW is constant, let's model again--wow AGW is still the only possible answer"

but we don't know AGW is occurring because we don't have constantly rising global temperatures despite increased emissions of greenhouse gases

and I don't actually care if sea levels will rise 20 feet in 500 years versus 300 years

we were told it would be 25 years

if its not 25 years we can dispense with the political activity to head it off
