Topic: The difference between Hamas/Hezbollah and Israel

A firefight is happening...

The terrorist see's a baby in a stroller...

Down the street an Israeli soldier also finds a baby in a stroller...

The terrorist hides behind his baby to fire at the Israeli.

The Israeli gets in front of his stroller to protect the baby while firing back knowing if he does not, both babies die anyways.

Neither of them know if the children are Jewish, or Arab... Nor do either care.

Just thought I would point of the difference to those who fail to understand.

And if you try to discredit it... people will realize which side DOES use human shields, and which does not. You only discredit yourself.

Everything bad in the economy is now Obama's fault. Every job lost, all the debt, all the lost retirement funds. All Obama. Are you happy now? We all get to blame Obama!

Re: The difference between Hamas/Hezbollah and Israel

"The terrorist hides behind his baby to fire at the Israeli."

That's ridiculous, strollers make terrible cover.  He'd toss the baby aside, load the stroller up with explosives and push it at the Israeli.

"The Israeli gets in front of his stroller to protect the baby while firing back knowing if he does not, both babies die anyways.

Neither of them know if the children are Jewish, or Arab... Nor do either care."

Wrong on 3 counts.  1) Just as the stroller would provide terrible cover for the Arab 1 Israeli provides terrible cover for the baby.  If the Israeli has the intelligence to tie their own shoes they'd put as much distance between themselves and the baby to minimize the chances of the baby getting hit. 2) You and I may not be able to tell the difference, I assure you they can.  3) They do care, I know you'll never accept it but groups like Hezbolah and other extremist groups don't blow up their own people for fun, and the Israeli's aren't exactly saints.

And really I'm getting sick of people picking on these groups for targeting civillians/using them as shields, I know it's not a popular topic but every western nation is guilty of doing the exact same thing.  War is hell and you don't always have the luxury of being picky.

Yeah, like how we put civilians inside the World Trade Center to attempt to dissuade bombings.  Despicable!

Re: The difference between Hamas/Hezbollah and Israel

"Yeah, like how we put civilians inside the World Trade Center to attempt to dissuade bombings.  Despicable!"

No but the construction of military factories in Civilian areas, the garrissoning of soldiers in civilian areas, carpet bombing civilian areas to get at said factories, dropping Napalm on cities in an attempt to devastate enemy morale.  Every western nation has done this in the past, and will in the future, with the exception of neutral nations like Switzerland.

There are 10 kinds of people in this world, those who understand binary and those who don't.

Re: The difference between Hamas/Hezbollah and Israel

um the Swiss are more fully militarized than Israel, universal male conscription and they got bunkers and mortar tubes disguised as barns and tree stumps all over the place.  Iwo Jima would be a cakewalk compared to assaulting Switzerland.

as an American I don't accept responsibility for the way the French ran their empire btw

Re: The difference between Hamas/Hezbollah and Israel

Militarized yes but they don't actually do anything.  It's not like the Swiss are picking fights with people and then hiding behind their civilians.

And what was that about the French?

Re: The difference between Hamas/Hezbollah and Israel

Yeah well you bomb a factory making fighters, and it kills civilians, I wont cry, you take people out at gunpoint to stand between you and the enemy, I cry foul.

Nemeara I used to post at this level every day.

I stress EVERYDAY.

This forum was abuzz all the time with posts from myself, Black_Wing, JA, JAisgay, and others. I have converted several to Conservative thought.

But trolls were allowed to run amock, people started leaving as mods decided they were lefties, and would not protect the righties, but would go over-board sometimes protecting the lefties.

Now this forum is officially dead. Sincerely... I mean no movement at all... no hopping anywhere...

"Yeah well you bomb a factory making fighters, and it kills civilians, I wont cry, you take people out at gunpoint to stand between you and the enemy, I cry foul."

Now intentionally or not you're misunderstanding me.  Tell me what is the difference between having people stand in front of you to keep from getting shot, and building military facilities in civillian populated areas?  In both cases you are counting on your enemy's hesitance to harm civillians to keep him from attacking while you are free to continue.

There are 10 kinds of people in this world, those who understand binary and those who don't.

Re: The difference between Hamas/Hezbollah and Israel

DPS... a factory is built, should it be 100 miles, 1000 miles, 1,000,000 miles, or more away from a civilian center?

Factories rely upon workers, workers require housing, stores to shop at, day care centers, movie theaters, parks, hospitals and a whole list more of things.

A factory by essence must be at minimum in the industrial sector of a city. Especially for logistical purposes.

But I guess you lack the intelligence to have realized this.

Nemeara the story is one that has played out over my lifetime, no I was not a witness, no I was not party, no two babies were not left out, but this story... it is the heart of the matter.

When you willingly prey upon innocents, when you seek them out, as part of the act of so called war.... it differentiates you... and when you are willing to protect, at ~ANY~ cost an innocent... it differentiates you as well.

These are truisms that can be detected.

When you glorify someone for killing children and innocents, it sets you apart. When you glorify someone for losing his life protecting children and innocents... it sets you apart.

One is inherently evil, the other is inherently good. There is no 'middle spectrum' and this is an effort to teach that, sometimes, there is no middle ground... Just black or white.

I do not need triggers to know whats right or wrong, I do not need the press pushing me to a 'new story'. I need only my mind to point out issues.

Is that the only reason why you would build a military base near a civilian area?  From the military standpoint, a town already has vehicles transporting supplies to the area... the region already has infrastructure, and doesn't need to add much in order to ensure supplies get to the base.  From a civilian standpoint, military bases are often a big boost to the local economy, providing jobs to maintain parts of the base, or providing thousands of customers in their 20s who have a ton of disposable income and are looking for some fun.

Whenever the military tries to close down a base, one of the first things you hear is civilians from a nearby city pleading to have the base stay because the base helps out their economy.

As for military factories, remember:
1: Many factories have dual purposes, and can be converted between military and civilian purposes.
2: Factories need to be somewhere near the people working there, right?

Re: The difference between Hamas/Hezbollah and Israel

i dunno what you mean by factory centers

US factories havent been hit by enemies since WWI and that was by saboteurs

why Euros do anything I dont know

maybe you go crazy if you can't smell lots of other Euros, like chickens

Re: The difference between Hamas/Hezbollah and Israel

If a bomb factory gets hit, blows out the neighborhood, well thats the price for a bomb factory in a neighborhood. They could vote it out, force it to leave their town (Hazardous materials after all are regulatable) but they wanted the $$.

Telling Lizzy she is my human shield as I gun down someone... then thats not her fault, she had no voice in it.

Depends on the situation.  Could Hamburg really refuse a ball bearing plant during World War 2?

Re: The difference between Hamas/Hezbollah and Israel

The difference between Hamas/Hezbollah and Israel?

Irrelevant.

Both are fighting for their own "survival", and both will slaughter innocent children
to get what they want.

Pretending anything else, or pretending that soldiers from either side are saints, is
both absurd and obnoxious.

Don't agree?

Hamas kills children for going to school.
Israel blows up schools.

Your logic can be either three ways:
A) Hamas is good. They are trying to stop children being blown up.
B) Israel is good. The children were going to be terrorists anyway.
C) Both sides are "evil"

If you select C, i.e. if you have half a brian, you could then only come to
the conclusion that the rest of the world has failed that region, and the children
born in that region. For shame.

Re: The difference between Hamas/Hezbollah and Israel

Easy enough to disprove

Which group(s) has a tradition of placing explosives, troops, weapons, and such in: Mosques, Schools, Government Offices, privately owned homes (citizens homes) and Hospitals?

THE ANSWER: Hamas and Hezbollah!!!

Re: The difference between Hamas/Hezbollah and Israel

so if communists were conquering the US, you wouldnt make some questionable ethical actions inorder to defend the US? i doubt that, you already make questionable ethical actions...

Re: The difference between Hamas/Hezbollah and Israel

the difference between Hamas/Hezbollah and Israel is that Hamas/Hezbollah are the oppressed and Israel the oppressor...

Re: The difference between Hamas/Hezbollah and Israel

>>That's ridiculous, strollers make terrible cover.<<

He's referring to the child being a deterrent to shooting in that direction, not a physical barrier that stops bullets.

>>They do care, I know you'll never accept it but groups like Hezbolah and other extremist groups don't blow up their own people for fun<<

Nobody proposed that they did it for fun, but they brutalize and use their own people for human shields. You've conceded his point and yet ignorantly claimed you didn't concede his point.

It's like you have no idea what you're typing.

Re: The difference between Hamas/Hezbollah and Israel

Uh.

Who are you talking to flint?
Who are you talking to avogadro?

Quoting would be nice to build context within your argument.

But either way my point still stands. Both sides need to be controlled, and the
respective leaders (commanders, or those making such civilian-killing decisions),
need to be held accountable for the innocent deaths of so many children and the
degraded life-style so many children must endure.

But of course that wont happen.

Hamas and hezbollah are oppressers of their own people

Ah, i see. I had a feeling that was the case.

And? :-P.

A child slain is a child slain, regardless of his/her nationality.

If my country did what either sides of this argument has done, i would
be all for international intervention and a U.N. peacekeeping presence.

In fact, i would aggressively support such actions.
