Topic: Of Socialism, its flaws, its errors, its mistakes, its wrongs

Socialism is a menace to society, oh the people who believe in it think it will help them, and/or help others, but this is a fallacy.

Let me explain.

Socialism is a system where the system requires all people have a wish to help society, conform to society, have no want to compete versus others, and where equality is rule number one.

If you contest that, and your a socialist, say so, I will be happy to see what other requirements/needs/issues there are behind socialism.

The problem for socialism is that equality is impossible, competition will always exist, more than a lot of people wish to help their families before their friends, before their neighbors, before their city, before their county, before their country, before the world, and conforming is cool if it is your view on society, not so cool if not.

Let me break this down into a series of quick and easy to understand arguments:

1) The problem with supply versus demand

Supply problems will be the first issue facing a socialist world order. For instance celebrities... Now I am no fan of Michael Jordon but he is quite well known, and lots of people would love to meet him (I am just not happy with how he kept blazers from ever getting anywhere tongue ) including I guess... even myself. I differ in reasons for why I would like to meet him than most, but still... a LOT OF PEOPLE WOULD LOVE TO JUST SHAKE HIS HAND! Or get an autograph, or better... how would you like to have 15 minutes of time with Michael Jordon, at a dinner or other occasion?

Lets assume a PALTRY 15 million people would be excited at having the dinner, only we will say he talks with you each in turn while you enjoy a good meal. Then 15 minutes later, another 10 people. That would be 40 people an hour. Now assuming we made a cure for sleep, for bathroom needs, and anything else that could stop him from meeting people, he could meet 960 people a day. At that rate he could meet 350,400 people in a year. This means it would take 43 years for him to meet every last person who wanted a mere 15 minutes with him, if he met 10 at a time.

If he rested 8 hours a day, took 1 hour to shower and cloth, had 2 hours mandatory rest breaks, and 1 hour of personal time this time need would exceed 85 years...

That right there is an example, yes an extreme one, of a problem with supply versus demand.

The problem exists in many other forms. Imagine just living in the United States.

Now pick a State you deem to have the most favorable weather, the best looking vistas, the most entertainment, or whatever major three criteria's you wish to choose. Now consider how many people really want to have a 3-6 hour commute to and from work each day who currently live in New York City. Consider those in the California valleys who hate where they live. Your perfect venue is a monopoly against them also having a perfect venue. You now have the entire supply of something they demand. Are you going to let them all move there, ruin what you loved about it, because even after they do all that to them it is better than what they had?

My thesis, when I go to get it done in math, will be on how EVERYTHING is a monopoly. Since I can prove, without any doubt, that this is true this means that socialism is doomed to fail since monopolies will still exist. So long as there is a need for a location, of any sort (weburl versus an address), so long as all matter in the universe cannot be placed at the beck and call of each being, there is a monopoly, small to colossal.

Socialism cannot resolve the Supply vs Demand issues versus equality, since there will always be inequality regardless of how hard they try, even if they made everyone live in mud huts. My mud hut will be in overlooking a river, while yours is in a desert... your unhappier than I am!

2) Religion

Oh I know that Socialists are by nature less religious than anyone else. I understand that many of you feel it is a great crutch on humanity. I even understand that you feel when humans move beyond this crutch all will be perfect.

Sorry that is not happening today, nor tomorrow. Get over it. Understand it. Live with it. How many religions exist today, around the world? To many to count easily, that's for sure. And how close are these religions to peace and understanding?

Well if you believe your rhetoric then Christianity is all that is evil, causes evil, and will need to be removed first. Since Christianity cannot get along with others, then there can be no peace while Christians are freed.

If you look around however, most are generally at peace, excepting Islam, which is specifically saying in their book to enslave and diminish the other religions. There is a head price, aka a tax you pay or you die, if Islam takes your land, and it is written in their 'MOST SACRED HOLY BOOK YOU CANNOT PISS ON'. So many other things in their book, but lets leave it at 'they will not know peace until they are the only religion, or they are wiped out or until some great leader changes their book permanently'.

Then what do you do about semi-religious groups that seem to pop up all the time... like oh... Falun Gong? Crush them? How very civil of you!

The Human Factor includes religion in it in my arguments, and due to the Human Factor socialism is destined to fail. Socialism cannot compete, cannot undo, cannot handle religion at all, and therefore any socialist constructs always tries to act like it does not, or will not, exist.

3) Competition

Competition is important in life. Without competition a lot of people who have done historical things, would have no reason to do so. Man would not have gone to space yet without competition I contend. Without competition we would all be typing this on Commodore 64's with tape drives (if we are lucky we could revert to the 8 track! YAY 8 programs on 1 tape!!!!).

Competition drives people to do their best, it also drives companies to do their best. Competition weeds out the weak, the inefficient, the stupid, and lets the better move forward.

You might suddenly cry 'but what about those poor, weak, stupid people, that's not fair!'. To be honest I do not want a person with an IQ of 50 (Forrest Gump not-withstanding) running a major business, or deciding government policy.

Nor are all people with a 170 IQ the same in carry through skills, training, ability, charm, etc. Socialism would say 1 car manufacturer is enough, so long as they are 'fair' in their practices. But this hurts innovation, competition drives them to make a car society would more like to have, competition makes some, like Tesla Motors, to go out on a limb, and if the people do not like their product, have that limb cut out from under them so their failures wont be repeated.

Competition makes you learn also. If we all were nice to each other, and fair, we would all have 20 planets (or whatever amount is equally divisible) and no one could attack another in this game. But since socialism is not here, we fight to win, and the best have better keep up or they wont be the best. There are plenty of people who were legends in this game, who now would not be thought much of. Competition beat them, and therefore new idea's and plans came out (such as the 7 to start strategy... I never even had a clue about that til 4 rounds after it was made... I think?)

Competition makes us better, stronger, fitter, wiser, smarter, leaner, more conservative (not the political type), more responsible. Competition is needed in humanity, and we have it in the droves, without it we can all be those 10 year old kids in a baseball park where they do not count score (cause that might emotionally damage the kid), where we all get a cookie for playing, and where the left fielder is picking his nose as the ball falls next to him cause why should he worry about getting that ball? His nose is much more interesting after all! tongue

Without Competition Society does not advance, and Socialism therefore means no new stuff, no cares if you fall behind, no incentives to do greater.

Now to be honest, and I am that, no true socialism has existed yet... but then again no true socialistic society can ever exist. The factors I listed above, and other arguments not worth my time today, all make it impossible for Socialism to ever truly exist.

Instead what we have seen is some other construct with a taint of would be socialism. N. Korea is a Tyranny with aspects of would be Socialism, China is an Oligarchy with taintings of would be Socialism, the USSR was Fascism with a pretty coat designed to appear like Socialism, and Europe is... a mess designed to appear like they are partially Socialist.

A good example of this: when space exploration was seen as a national security issue by both the US and the Soviets, both governments fought to be the first to launch a satellite, send a human into space, orbit the Earth, and land on the moon... a huge amount of progress...

Fast forward to 1992.  The US started its space shuttle program a decade ago, largely to increase its ability to utilize satellite technology, but also to support other orbital missions, such as research on space stations.  With the Soviet Union's fall, space declined as an area of competition, as Russia began cooperating with the US.  The result?  MIR was kept around much longer than needed, we're still using the space shuttle program after 30 years... talk of other launches has been only at the theoretical level, and even NEO detection has been behind schedule.

Re: Of Socialism, its flaws, its errors, its mistakes, its wrongs

Indeed sir, very correct. In fact China has only entered the space race as a military need, Israel the same, Iran ditto, N. Korea says it wants to be in space (not yet successful), Japan was a sort of dual economic and self defense need, and the EU went to space to show the world they could... lol... competition!

Re: Of Socialism, its flaws, its errors, its mistakes, its wrongs

Note: Actually, Flint... I might want to warn you about something...

Don't confuse liberalism with socialism.  Actually, a true socialist would consider liberalism only to be a perpetuation of capitalism.  To the true socialist, efforts like national health care, social security, and other so-called "socialist" programs only work to enhance capitalism by preventing the working class from recognizing the harms of capitalism.  To real socialists, the only way to actually create a socialist state is to violently overthrow the state.  Anything that would allow the bourgeois to exist would still create the external harms which socialists claim capitalism creates (environmental issues, inequality, etc), as the corporation would simply find a way around laws, or reconstruct the social programs to its benefit.

Now if you're only using this to defend capitalism as a concept, be my guest.  Just make sure you don't then use this as a reason why liberal theory is flawed (then again... what I just said would prove liberal economic policy is flawed, because it would never be able to actually achieve its goals).

Re: Of Socialism, its flaws, its errors, its mistakes, its wrongs

No this was against Socialism. True Socialism accepts there must be factories, farms, and the likes. The label of who owns it changes, but it must still be administered and such. A company can exist, so long as it is watched in and out, and is part of the socialist movement entirely. Any evidence of any deviation and the person involved is removed.

Re: Of Socialism, its flaws, its errors, its mistakes, its wrongs

So look at the three arguments I chose. Specifically pointed at Socialism. Liberalism is something else, this is against Socialism... and how it has never truly existed, but has tainted current systems like a toxin or venom.
