Re: America

Blackwing.. let me think about what is state controled in germany.
Public transportation partly still is.. only partly.. and it is getting more and more private.
Some banks are.
Some water supply is... and thats it..
if i forgott anything.. feel free to add it.

To answer your questions now.

I work for a private company. Its a fullfillment company.
I do develop software for them.

I am happy with the job.. because i like the people who work with me. the work itsself is almost same every day so its annoying.
I work 40-50 hours a week. I do NOT like the fact that whatever i plan.. let it be vacations or whatever it in the end depends on my employer if i can go or not.
I do not have wife and children if that is what you concider having family.
I do not live with my parents anymore.
I do have university degree in geography. It was payed by the goverment because i was glad enough to finish before goverment invented fees for university.
I for sure, as every german have medical coverage.
It is payed by our socialist system.. so in the end.. it is half payed by myself.. half payed by my employer.

As far as i understand it is not so unimportant what i think.. because i am part of the market.. right`?

I for sure do not find your oppinion on this relevant because that case does not matter. german men can wear skirts if they like.
if they would not be allowed to wear skirts i would support inventing a law allowing it to them.. in that case.. i would think your oppinion would matter... if you would be german.

Look.... i do not even want to get rid of capitalism. it was working. it is just about to totally loose humanity. and thats the point where i think goverment should come in to prevent it. As i stated several times before.. I think that us humans are ruling this world (that indeed may be a lil elitist point of view). I think the state is there to serve the people. To make life as comfortable to them as possible.

What you allways try to put into my mouth is that i think that the people are there for the state.. which is simply not the case.

And again.. i am not saying kids shouldn

"I think the state is there to serve the people. To make life as comfortable to them as possible."

I read the rest of your post, but I have nothing to comment on that.  However, why do you think that way in the phrase I just quoted from you?  My view on state is that it exists only because of its original purpose: to protect its inhabitants.  So, I would like to know why you feel the state must cater to the people?

Re: America

@ Schneip.

Cool.  I have a better understanding of you and your position then.
Basically, you fret for mankind.  You do care about those who dont have.

This is where as a decent human being, you and I agree.  We just get their in different ways.

Germany runs/controls health care dont they set levels of price/fees and such ?  Are there any private hospitals, or are they all public?
university to a major extent, is subsidized ?
How large is your bureaucracy ?...your Govt. and its ministries ?
Education, transportation, Agriculture, Health, Defence, Interior, State dept. and its diplomat corps ?
Your Govt. controls on Industry ?

Govt. is more than 1% for sure...my point.

Yes, if you pay taxes, and your employer is hosed w/taxes....sure you pay.  You also pay for those that work and abuse the system.  Govt. run industry w/o competition created a bloated inefficient system.  Are you happy w/your health care system ?

The German men w/skirts...hehe....you are funny....for a German.  big_smile

Again, my children are aware of money and money matters.  I teach them to be wise and frugal.  My son loves his Xbox, my daughter her clothing and fancy phone w/texting all over..... They also both work in my company on Weekends and days off now.  So Im teaching them the value of money.

My point in Scientology is to each their own.  You or I are in no position to knock what others want or dont want.

Lastly.... You are happy in work.  Yea, its mundane at times....thats life when you are in your specialty.

When are you moving on to your own company ??  To develop your own ideas and take your field in a direction you want ??
You see, this is what freedom gives you.  When you talk on the macro of how unhappy "Workers" are, you really dont speak for a majority.  I believe you speak of a minority.

Be happy dude.  In America we care so much about people, we are willing to free them from their masters.
You see, we are alike.

Re: America

Here in America if you dont want an employer you can have that as a career goal, set out on your own or as a real extreme homestead on federal land. There's still trappers and prospectors out there in the woods... Though Alaska state residents all get $ from the state oil industry.

State paid is not the same as you paying for it. In the us Medicare system something like 10% of the program budget is payments to citizens. It costs $9 to give a citizen $1. However you figure your personal time it doesnt cost that much for you to pay cash.

America is getting too soft and greedy.  My parents generation would have been--and were--angry to be told that they should ask for govt charity. Now the anger is against those who remind people that the Earned Income Tax credit is charity and SCHIP is charity and any money from the govt beyond what you earned is charity and shameful.

Faced with the truth liberals and "progressives" fall back on cynicism and fatalism. Like the line Spielberg put in Golda Meir's mouth in "munich":  "all civilizations come to a point where they violate their own principles"--sure right before they collapse in their own decadence. Great civilizations solve problems and are proud of it. Liberals are like a guy who stands on the railroad tracks and lets the train hit them because "they're tired of running"

That is why your bank can shout itself blue in the face about our letting the dollar crumble and inflation triples food and fuel prices and nothing will be done to save the dollar. Our govt owes every man woman and child in the usa a home and utilities and health care, braces, cable tv, a car, food, clothing, a college education and a job with automatic pay raises and promotions and the ability to switch up employers. Whatever that costs is too bad, it must be spent. There is no longer any organized poltical opposition to this view in the USA. For now. But i think it just as likely as a Conservative revival, that a public loyal to a standard of living, would repudiate the constitution that failed to provide bread and circuses

Re: America

Personally I don't understand why people would want certain businesses to be privatized.  Take health insurance for example.  Now with government run health insurance you pay on about the same scale as someon with private health insurance but there is one big difference.  A private health insurance company can refuse to pay on a claim, government health insurance can't.  So with that in mind I don't understand why people would prefer private health insurance, you still pay for injuries and illnesses you might have the only difference is with private insurance there's a chance when you get injured or sick that they won't pay.  Keep in mind I'm talking about health insurance not health care, I personally think a private health care system can run better than a public one.

Another business I'm glad is government run where I live is the sale of alcohol, and that's solely because of consistency.  No matter where I go in my province I can go to a beer or liqour store and know with absolute certainty that they will have what I am looking for.  I also support public education because I believe everyone is entitled to a highschool education regardless of income.

There are 10 kinds of people in this world, those who understand binary and those who don't.

Re: America

I hate all Americans because a small number of the are too stupid to tell the difference between the words Your and You're, as well as Their and There.

Except for New York State.... is it NY state?

Re: America

I live in the UK, I have private health cover, as well as the standard NHS cover. I got private because I kept getting injuries that:
a) The NHS were taking ages to do anything about - they do have several million people to cater for.
b) The NHS weren't doing enough about - I want fast and effective treatment, not a subscription for anti-inflammatories, and to be told to give up my sports. Hell, if I give up my sports, I'll have nothing much left, and there's no point having the best-kept tendons in the cemetary, is there?

If I get a common illness, or want vaccinations, then I go to the NHS and take my time. If I want fast and top-notch service, then I pay for it myself. The NHS are there to provide a minimum satisfactory level of healthcare, and they do that very well, despite what our (shite) press say abou them.

Re: America

ya the Socialist Republic of New York

@ Psycho....perfect example of the waste and beauracracy of a failed Socialist Health Care service.
Let me keep the tax burden of providing the most basic of services, that you do well, and apply it to the private sector where a much better and efficient health care can provide most likely a cheaper more efficient basic service as well.

Leave the NHS service to provide for the most needy/lazy/poor/not so demanding to serve.

Good example.

Just form a supreme communist party, take over your own country, and show the world that greed isn't a necessity beyond a certain point of infrastructure and technology.
