No which actually makes the situation all the more terrifying.  You have an enemy who seeks your destruction has managed a successful attack on your soil, and you can't even point to a location on a map and say "destroy them."  Your enemy is for all intents and purposes invisible and as the failed attack on Christmas shows they're still gunning for you.

Two words, Internment Camp.  The US going to war wasn't an overreaction, the forced relocation and detainment of Japanese-Americans was.

True by both accounts. thanks for the clarification. Basically, I think we agree terrorism and war cause people to do crazy things, but if it protects your nation, how can you resist?

I think we're doomed to forever have a fluctuating economy (Capitalism and Democracy at it's best), but not doomed in the sense meant by this thread.

Not really, every one of my examples were of Socialism. Their governments employed Socialism through Communism but that is merely incidental. Hence the reason they are often confused.

I understand both terms but we tend to believe Socialism unchecked and abused leads to Communism... It's the slippery slope argument. You seem educated so I'm not going to lecture you on it. Forgive my lack of explanation.

We have certain Socialistic aspects to our country (i.e. Wellfare, Social Security, etc.) and they are great concepts but most of them are failing.

Actually the only battle we have lost is with chinese restaurants.  The China governments stance to fatten up the american pigs is going quite smoothly.  With the number of three to one-hundred chinese restaurants to every american city, their plan is on track.  By 2012 their invasion fleet will be upon our shores with high cholesterol sub-gum chow mein.

And of course, we'll eat it.
