Topic: Obama - rev. Wright backstab?
So Wright has been Obama's pastor for about 20 years and is known for some outrageous stances on various issues, many of which can be described as unproven science (black kids score lower on typical (white oriented) intelligence tests because they think with different parts of the brain) provocative (e.g. god damn america) and some of which are downright nasty and could be described as racist and hate speech (e.g. AIDS was genetically engineered to kill off black people). He's also known as an opinionated preacher, meaning he does not hold back on his personal (political) views on subjects during his sermon so it's likely he has held sermons or most if not all of his views in church.
As the preachings of Wright started to trickle into the media Obama quickly held a speech where he claimed that he sat in church but not necessarily agreed with what Wright was saying and that he felt some of Wright's positions were indeed outrageous. Now I think it's a bit hard to have someone as a pastor for years in spite of such sentiments, but I agree with the basic premisse that just because you're listening all the time doesn't mean you're agreeing all the time. I guess you could call this a 90
