If your ally is acting in a dishonourable way, its the only reasonable thing to do to wash your hands clean of the mess they are putting forth.

The only decent thing to do would be giving the planets gained from your ally, back to 14/18 .P This will mean illegal alliance and you will all be blocked. But it is the honorable thing to do, no question. Then again...defending 2 random fams, is also considered illegal alliance, so you could just all get blocked right now. And seeing as its posted clearly in this thread, that it is indeed charging into your own allies cause they misbehaved towards some other families....you should indeed get blocked.
BUT. I support the move. and Im glad Im not in your fam, cause you deserve to be struck with the block hammer.

Former allies get a permanent NAP, ALWAYS, no matter they are bullshit and lack honor, you just drop them, sign pNAP, and move on.

Well yeah, I never expected a lot of support from the community for this. What people don't know is that we saved a fam from being farmed. Because they were all ready to farm a new fam after 14/18. It's NOT IA, because we didn't ask for anyone's help, nor did we react to anyone's call to help them out.

11 felt 22 were dishonourable by farming all round and not being a great ally. So 11 in there wisdom to teach 22 a lesson about being dishonourable, decide to break an alliance with no notice??? So your trying to justify punishing a dishonourable family by being dishonourable???

Whatever factors which perphaps im not aware of, it still stands clear to me that if your going to cancel an alliance and kill your ally, you should at least give some notice and have a fun war out of it. Regardless of what your ally may have done, 48hrs notice should be given before anything like this happens! How gay!

And yeah, we could've given them 48hr notice... I thought about it, but I asked myself this: Would a fam that does nothing but farming families barely in their NW range all round long, really respect such a 48hr treaty? (We can assume they wouldn't be happy) Specially given the fact that there's no way they would win against Cloud, Rain and Beers. Not matter what their savings are.
I didn't want to take the risk, therefor they weren't given notice. And again, that this isn't gonna win us any popularity contests was clear from the start. Neverthless... we did it anyway. The fact I'm getting fanmail is reason enough to keep going.
Also if 22 wouldn't have been so busy trying to plan their next farm session on 3112, they would've noticed we were up to something. That's right, they were gonna farm another 200 planets to ensure their #1 size ranking. If we really wanted the size record, we would have waited 3 days longer to take all those unportalled planets 22 would've just taken from 12. We didn't wait because it's always been about them NOT getting it. Us getting it was never mentioned in our chat sessions. I'm pretty sure no one will ever believe this but that's how it is.
Who cares anymore but you guys will find it harder to get allies from now on because everyone will wonder am i next.
Polder, can I just point out that Rain/Cloud/Beers lost earlier in the round?

yes... 11 lost against 25 AND 26 for reasons posted in my first post. There's no shame in losing a 2V1. Furthermore, the definition of losing can vary... for example: we didn't get hit that hard and had to pay 25 planets... for losing against 2 families that's not too bad imo. But again, the outcome of the war with 25/26 is of no importance. Only the fact we had to solo it is.
Assassin: I'm not too sure of that. People that would be "ally-worthy" candidates understand this is a one time thing. Many of these people already frowned upon 22 for their actions.
I guess a block for denouncing an alliance, attacking them, with the reasoning of protecting other non-families, is not an illegal alliance...maybe its brave-ish ? Its still a puddle of grey goo on the border of being just goo.

Beware everyone ... if you ally with anyone, there is the possibility that they could essentially cancel on you at the split second and take your planets. It matters not that they would know your fleet status, your portal status, how much infra you were building; and forget the fact that you knowingly allowed them to secure planets in your core and portal up. It's all fine and dandy - It's legal - they can do that; It's fair - because they did not do so illegally.
What must be noted though - there is a dividing line between morality and legality. It's all depends on the individual - is doing what is legally permissible moral? - is that or should that be the limit?

Btw ... it's just a game people - maybe it should not be governed by rules or morality, honour etc. But of course, I would like to reiterate - it all depends on the community of players! It's up to you to decide. If you are not fine with it - good for you and if you are fine with it - good for you also. I just feel that there needs to be some clear line drawn between what is permissible and what isnt. The fact that cloud and company had to verify with the mods with respect with whether it is legal further supports my point.
However, as things currently are, cancelling on allies and attacking them immediately is fine - so it just adds another dynamic to the game i guess - don't trust anyone!

Learn to read... we only asked if it was possible to attack after cancelling nap, or if we had to wait 48hrs like you do when cancelling an ingame nap...
