Re: the problem with politics

Problem with politics:

"It doesn't matter who the people voted for; they always vote for us".

                                          - Joseph Stalin

Why people think this doesn't apply to the US or any other democratic nation is beyond me.

Re: the problem with politics

dunno about your countries but in America we elect some insane horse asses that couldnt get into a conspiracy if they brought free donuts to the meetings for a year

The core joke of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is that of course no civilization would develop personal computers with instant remote database recovery, and then waste this technology to find good drinks.
Steve Jobs has ruined this joke.

Re: the problem with politics

I was more thinking 'figure head' or 'puppet' more... If you have an idiot as head of state you can just ignore him and then laugh at his mistakes in meeting foreign leaders or trying to talk coherant sentances and get on with running the country your way.

Re: the problem with politics

Dont dismiss the fact that no matter who is in office, the postition of President of the United States is a very powerful position.  in reality however, the president only has one true enemy, his own government.

Re: the problem with politics

it is powerful, but if who ever is in power doesn't really know what to do then the more powerful position is the one telling him what to do and say
