Re: Christian Community

it says "love thy neighbour" not "love thy neighbour if he is exactly the same as you"

or am i reading it wrong?

EDIT:typo

I was using a metaphor that means God is watching us. You've heard this, there's a toilet on the roof.

Re: Christian Community

It also says to hate sin, not love sin and accept it.  I understand people are different and have no problem with it, its just sin that I hate.  When someone is different because they embrace sin in their lives, then yes I am prejudice against it and them.

Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens; let thy glory be above all the earth. ~Psalms 57:5

Re: Christian Community

does it say hate sin or does it say hate sinners, jesus-joe?

Confirmation is for sissies and altar boys.

Re: Christian Community

the former, but the question you ask Decimus, leads me to believe you feel I hate you or anyone else here?

Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens; let thy glory be above all the earth. ~Psalms 57:5

Re: Christian Community

If that's not true, try behaving less like you do tongue

I'll never know if it was worth the pain, but I still loved it more than anything in the world - it was my life.

Re: Christian Community

i seriously think you lack the emotional depth to feel love or hate.

Confirmation is for sissies and altar boys.

Re: Christian Community

i happened to have a bible with me so i thought id pull a few things out that support my point about the need for you to be less confrontational:

"blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy" Matthew 5:7
"blessed are the peacemakes:for they shall be called the children of God." Matthew 5:9
"but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also." Matthew 5:39

This is an especially important one:
"Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. But I say unto you, Love your enemies bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you and persecute you;" Matthew 5:43-44

"But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses" Matthew 6:15
"Judge not, that ye be not judged" Matthew 7:1

and all i did was read the first 10 chapters of only one Gospel, will carry on later after my lecture if you'd like?

also I'd be interested joe to find out what thread of christianity you follow?

I was using a metaphor that means God is watching us. You've heard this, there's a toilet on the roof.

Re: Christian Community

there you have it, jesus-joe. stop bickering and start blessing us. and do good to me; do you have a paypal account or a sister?

Confirmation is for sissies and altar boys.

Re: Christian Community

"they cant have sex with women, so accroding to god, and the bible, young boys is perfectly fine."

Thou shalt not lay with a man as you would with a women and so on and so forth. The bible in no way endorses rape (which is what these sorts of cases are - the children are far too young to consent) or paedophilia. If you believe otherwise, quotes please. The men who carry out these sorts of acts have no relation to God, the Church or Christianity in general besides the fact they operate under the title of Christian - they are not Christians at heart. So boo hiss to you!

Re: Christian Community

I think joe simply craves attention.

Re: Christian Community

beaners, I'd like to know how and why you feel I know so little about God's word?  I don't confess to be a historian of the Bible, nor am I nearly as smart as many of my Christian friends, but I understand God's word.  I strive to read the Bible everyday and learn new passages, what they mean, and how I can apply them to my life.

Now it appears that many have attacked me here, in a Christian Forum, and simply understandable since I do put up a likewise defense.  However, I would like to draw emphasis on who's attacking here and expressing their defense of the faultless word of God, whereas who is in contrast attacking without justification.

Jesus turned the other cheek and so will I when smacked.  But Jesus never sinned, he never accepted sin nor did he aid to its practice.  You can attack me all you want, that is fine because I am a worthless human anyway, but your not going to force me to take on a sinful belief.  Decimus's presence here is wrong and unjustified, and I will not change that view unless he himself changes.

God bless.

Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens; let thy glory be above all the earth. ~Psalms 57:5

you're not jesus though, you're his follower. so you should be doing exactly what he taught you to do not exactly what he did. are you going to go around healing sick people like Jesus did? Of course not, you're not our saviour, you're his follower.

since when is this a christian forum? i thought this was a browser game's forum where christians, muslims and even americans are welcome.

Confirmation is for sissies and altar boys.

Re: Christian Community

well americans arent welcome but we are forced to put up with them >.<

Re: Christian Community

"technically, priests usually have sex with little boys, not men."

Clearly. But:

Sodomy = Debatable, Not So Good?
Sodomy with Little Children = Definately Not So Good

The Bible doesn't need to spell out every individual possible perversion of one forbidden act as wrong. Looking to indulge in a not-directly-the-same form of something forbidden would generally be considered looking for loopholes, which Christians aren't encouraged to do. A good Christian is consistant in their moral behaviour, not cunning and sly to suit their own desires, and uses their common sense and biblical knowledge to determine whteher or not something not mentioned in scriptures is wrong. Clearly molesting children is.

Re: Christian Community

> "you're not jesus though, you're his follower. so you should be doing exactly what he taught you to do not exactly what he did."

The contradiction in that is that as a follower of Jesus, Jesus has taught me to flee sin.  As Jesus was fled sin in every way, I should therefore, follow his example.  Obviously, I and no other Christian is as powerful as he is, but we can strive to be as close to him as we physically can, and that is what brings most glory to God.

> "are you going to go around healing sick people like Jesus did?"

I can and will do what I physically can, but like I said above I am not Jesus, nor are you, nor are anyone in this forum.  But by your statement your implying that nurses and doctors hypocrites, so could you please be a bit more specific. wink

> "since when is this a christian forum? i thought this was a browser game's forum where christians, muslims and even americans are welcome."

What I meant was "Christian's thread."  I apologize for the misclarification, but I was thinking you would use that wisdom you have displayed here Decimus, and conclude that for yourself.

Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens; let thy glory be above all the earth. ~Psalms 57:5

Re: Christian Community

hi everybody been reading thread and find it most interesting to see that you guys make Christianity out to be so tuff and intolerable. let me just say this it is really easy but tuff and yes it is intolerable towards sin that is. Jesus hated the sin but love the person, how are you changing your world for GOD, how many friends do you have that are unbelievers, (i mean real friends that are unbelievers), how has GOD used you to bring people closer to him. i have a question i would like to ask, just to see what kind of answer i get. How is peace made (i mean real peace)?

feed me Seymour! feed me! I like cherry cheese cake
that cherry cheese cake was good Seymour. More!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Christian Community

johnwayne, that was really good stuff, and it really made me think about it, which is a good thing.  How is God really using us in this world?  We are here to serve him, not ourselves.  What are we doing that really glorifies God, and isnt just to make our secular lives on earth better?

To answer your question "How is peace made?"  Well, I guess that depends on the perspective in which you look at it.  From an internal perspective, I find peace within myself through the happiness and joy I get out of serving God.  I know when God is using me and it brings joy & peace to my heart.  It is a very humbling experience.

Externally, I believe peace is made by the display of Godliness in the world.  God is revealed by all that is good, whether that be in General Revelation (that which does not acknowledge God, e.g. it is immoral to steal) or Special Revelation (that which is revealed by the word of God, e.g. it is unGodly to steal).

Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens; let thy glory be above all the earth. ~Psalms 57:5
