If you send your entire force on the attack (so that it doesn't show up in your main fleet) then they can't desert?
So basically, as long as they are not stationed or in main fleet, they won't desert from negative income? What about when they finish the attack? Will they desert then?
nope they still desert 
i think they have to be 97-98 units or below, then they don't, or at least they didn't before, i think it's the same for resources, if you put abunch up at 97-98 at a time they won't decay...
its up to 99
cos the decay is 0.5% i belive which rounds up
so if u have 100, 0.5% of this is 0.5 which rounds to 1
if u have 99 however, 0.5% of this is something like 0.49% etc which doesnt round to 1 
99 of everything per fleet keeps the decay away 
however, i can tell you from experience, that sending fleets of 99 bombs, 99 fighs, 99 solds, 99 droids, 99 trannies when you have a couple of million of each takes a fairly long time 
and the costs of sending all those fleets would probably be enough for a few days upkeep
Sending 0 tickers wouldn't cost... alot... hehe:P And itsn't it 1% disbanding each tick?
"This disbands at a rate of 1% of your total fleet per tick"
if it is 1% then it doesnt round..
