Re: Haiti Earthquake

Cheapest is best. Give nothing, but always invest.

Re: Haiti Earthquake

I have nothing against helping others out, but it see s America spends much more money helping others out than helping our own country....charity starts at home, and if u can't afford to help yourself out then you have no business trying to bail everyone else out.

If a man speaks in the woods and no woman is around is he still wrong?

Think back one year.. think about how much money was spend to bail out american banks and such.. then think again...

Re: Haiti Earthquake

The US Airforce did some airdroppings a couple of days ago. The people rioted, fighting eachother for the food.

Anyhow, order is key. Without order food distribution is merely symbolic at best.

Re "I see no point in helping them. Help yourselves imo."

Are you saying that we should fend for ourselves during natural disasters because America / other countries don't have a moral obligation to help us, or are you advocating that we should fend for ourselves when facing natural disasters and not even expect aid from anyone because America / other countries have proven to be so entirely incapable of providing aid that we would be better fending for ourselves?

I believe its a waste of time, resources, manpower to help a country that does nothing for us and is insignificant. We have plenty of people in our own country that could use help rather than helping foreigners like the US always seems to do. The US is far from incapable of providing aid... thats why there are 10k troops going to be there by Monday. Youre just a pessimist when it comes to talking about the US smile

As every 3rd world country does. Or a strong gang leader takes charge and charges insane amounts. Xeno is obviously ignorant to the fact this happens just about everytime aid is dropped.

It's true, most third world nations do not have order ingrained in their cultures like in Europe (and spinoff nations like US, NZ and OZ), Japan or China.

Re: Haiti Earthquake

They riot at air drops because they aid is usually so late they expect there simply won't be enough to go around and they've got to grab as much as possible because they have lost all confidence in the aid relief agencies even returning later with more aid.

Fact is aid was not swift nor abundant nor effective enough, and it never is.  However, there is an expectation among populations that it will be.  Take Katrina for example and the people who died of dehydration in New Orleans stadium.  People went there with the expectation that they would be taken care of by their government but were not.

I think the Katrina victims who went to the stadium probably would have been better off fending for themselves.  In fact, many deaths in Haiti and Katrina alike were probably a direct result of people waiting for aid that had been promised but never delivered.

Maybe next time, Obama should say something like, "We will not be sending aid.  Don't wait for us, because we cannot promise we can deliver anything.  Instead, take measures to take care of yourselves.  I say this because if you just sit around and wait for us to send aid, you'll probably die waiting."

Yeah, I think that sort of statement would cause less damage.

Re: Haiti Earthquake

except maybe massive PR damage xeno

Not many people know this, but I own the first radio in Springfield. Not much on the air then, just Edison reciting the alphabet over and over. "A" he'd say; then "B." "C" would usually follow...

Re: Haiti Earthquake

Hmm....  If I were the president and I had to choose between having better PR or causing 100k + deaths by stating a promise I know I couldn't deliver, I'd resign.

Re: Haiti Earthquake

Its hilarious reading xeno trash countries like the US who bend over backward to help during disasters when they really dont have to. Im also going to go out on a limb and say that xeno has done nothing to help Haiti. Or if he did, it was a whole 5-10 bucks.  Now what am I doing? Well Im sitting at work clearing C-130s and C-17s for takeoff loaded with supplies and giving the pilots their roite of flight go get there. Now stfu you pessimistic douchebag.

Hold on a second.  I'm not trash-talking the USofA.  I'm just trash talking people like you and the rest of your chain of command.  YOU THINK YOU'RE THE ONES BENDING OVER BACKWARDS, WHEN IT IS THE HARDWORKING, HONEST, PEOPLE OF THE WORLD WHO ARE THE ONES DOING THE BENDING OVER.  WE ARE THE ONES SUFFERING THE UNEMPLOYMENT, DIMINISHING STANDARDS OF LIVING, INFLATION, HOUSING BUBBLES, POVERTY, STARVATION.  WE'RE DOING THE BENDING OVER BACKWARDS ON ACCOUNT OF YOU AND YOU AND YOUR CRONIES' UTTERLY IDIOTIC WAY OF DOING THINGS.  AND WHAT DO WE GET FOR IT, A GOOD OLD REAMING, THAT'S WHAT.

IF YOU HAVE ANY SENSE OF DECENCY LEFT.  QUIT YOUR JOB.  YOU'RE WORKING FOR THE WRONG SIDE, DIMWIT.

Re: Haiti Earthquake

Just as I thought, xeno has done nothing for Haiti. Whine less please. I bet youre living with your parents, dont try to pose as one of the many unfortunate people that did lose their jobs. Diminishing standards of living? What world do you live in? I've seen people on food stamps with the latest and greatest clothing, cell phones, and incredibly nice jewelry. You can get free cell phones through government programs if youre poor... youre such an idiot.

"The total number of unemployed people stands now at 241 million. This is accompanied by a sharp drop in the real wages of the people who have jobs. This declined from 4.3 per cent in 2007 to 1.4 in 2008. Both these put together have, according to the World Bank, pushed an additional 89 million people into poverty taking the global figure to above 1.5 billion."

"For a family on the bottom rung of poverty a small price increase is the difference between life and death, yet neither US presidential candidate has declared a war on starvation. Instead both candidates talk about national security and the continuation of the war on terror as if this were the primary election issue. Given that ten times as many innocent people died on 9/11/01 than those in the World Trade centers, where is the Manhattan project for global hunger? Where is the commitment to national security though unilateral starvation relief? Where is the outrage in the corporate media with pictures of dying children and an analysis of who benefits from hunger? "

Basically, you twits have already stolen enough of our money.  Besides, you know quite well there is enough aid.  You know quite well the problem is that twits like you can't seem to get your acts together to get the aid to the people who need it.

Why should the US have to help every country? We prefer to actually stick around awhile, not give away everything we have. The US cant make enough food for everyone. You single out the US but not any other damn country. Youre just an anti-US poster. Point proven.
