(the firing squad shifted its weight in the courtyard. A noncom barked and they snapped to rigid order. A cold damp breeze slimed their faces. They shivered, cursing the bureaucratic snafu that held them waiting to do the obvious, thirsting for hot coffee and tobacco. The condemned man belched nervously between his guards. The officers stared at nothing with inscrutable patience, radiating confidence and intelligence to wet bricks and bored men. The day wasted.)

Earlier today a single bomb of a B-17 Flying Fortress had landed close to the gas chamber, completely shattering the barrack, leaving mere ashes and rubble.
The lynch-replacing firing squad shifted its weight in the courtyard. A noncom barked and they snapped to rigid order. A cold damp breeze slimed their faces. They shivered, cursing the bureaucratic snafu that held them waiting to do the obvious, thirsting for hot coffee and tobacco. Levitas belched nervously between his guarding soldier. The officers stared at nothing with inscrutable patience, radiating confidence and intelligence to wet bricks and bored men.
Carefully the firing squad raised their severely elderly Karabiner 98k's at about head height of the condemned man. "any last words, sweinhund!" the noncom yelled. Levitas who had already attested to his guilt earlier, just looked the other way. He seemed ready to die for a cause that he seemed to judge as accomplished already.
The soldiers manning the firing squad readied their weapons, awaiting the final order.
"SCHIE
Stole that part Chris. I hope you do not mind.
